PFT: At least one “good prospect” tested positive at Scouting Combine

A source with knowledge of the situation tells us that at least one “good prospect” generated a positive urine test in February during his visit to Indianapolis.

The source hasn’t supplied a name. And even if the source did, we wouldn’t be repeating it here without confirmation.

Doubt it'll turn out to be anyone we're considering, though that's pure "gut feeling" on my part.

How stupid do you have to be to get caught with drugs in your system at The Combine? :nonod:

Charlie Casserly addressed this years before and again this year. NFL personnel aren't stupid, but if you test positive at the combine you are showing every NFL team you are not only stupid as hell, but on one of the most important days of your life, what may be the biggest interview of your life, you can't be clean.

It is about as big a red flag as you can get and many teams dump the prospect right off their boards completely regardless of his talent.

Suck if it was Peterson, wouldn't it? :(

(he doesn't strike me as the type though, neither does Gabbert)

It'll probably wind up being someone most of us haven't heard of, but if the name doesn't come out you could see a situation like last year where a couple of big name prospects get falsely accused.

    • They will be if they extend Young but I don't think we're there just yet. Morgan and Canales are tied and I don't believe Tepper is going to go look for a new front office for Bryce as things stand.
    • I was playing around with the ESPN playoff predictor and it shows if 49ers and Rams finish with same record, the Rams hold the tiebreaker.
    • This is my thinking as well. Seattle played as good as they could on defense and Panthers still had a chance until those back to back turnovers.  I don't think the Rams played particularly well in their game against us, alot things went our way in order to win.  Someone pointed out the Rams were bad on the east coast road games and Seattle has been the better road team but they just fought a hard contested game against the Panthers, and now they travel to San Fran this week for their biggest game of the season to determine the division and if they are the overall #1 seed in the NFC or will be traveling for the Wildcard weekend.  If they lose they then travel back cross the country to play a team they've just beaten two weeks ago, not saying they won't be favored against the Panthers but the energy of hosting our first playoff game in 10 years along with the get back effect of having just lost to this team could be huge.
