Drafting positions that pay immediate dividends

if our guy busts and the other guy turns into a superstar, they look terrible. that "other guy" could literally be any of the top 7 guys. if our dude doesn't do well there will always be a fan to bitch about it, don't worry.

I think most the fanbase is tired of waiting for the perfect quarterback. I'm tired of waiting and saying let's take the best player here. A linebacker is safer, so what? How many touchdown passes is he going to throw. As mayock has said, if you have a need at quarterback that triumphs all.

All I'm saying is that the QB class is so weak this year that the best option is to draft a player that will make an impact right away. The team is talent starved, especially on offense, and if not QB, pick the player that will make the biggest difference right away.

If there were better QB prospects, even just a little, I'd say go QB. We'd be calling on that player to start right away and we saw how that turned out last year. I could see those prospects being solid starters on the right team, but they'd need solid coaching, time on the bench, and talent around them. And since there's a slim chance of football next year, drafting a QB that will do nothing next year seems like a waste...why not draft a QB next year that got to play the extra season.

    • After watching Dan for 3 yrs now, I think I understand his plan. It’s a simple plan that should work for the long run.     I saw some of this last yr. Dan wants a vet and a young player at each position. I really think we go OT if one they like there. Moton is aging, Icky will not be back until 27, if ever. We need to get ahead of the tackle problem
    • You are just stressing too much about these particular positions. You want to upgrade from Bryce and I understand that but you aren’t going to really get that without getting into a bidding war for a QB2 potential QB1 like Willis. You could possibly trade for Mills or the backup for Chicago but they are still gambles and their teams will won’t decent picks.  Again the Eagles thought KP was a capable enough backup to trade for him once their backup was hurt and won a Super Bowl with him as QB2. The point is most teams aren’t rolling with some stud QB2/3 that is going to push even a bottom tier starter. They are better off the building their roster in other areas. The Rams are rolling with Bennett right now as QB2 for example.  The goal is winning absolutely. We overachieved last year even with stumbling into the playoffs. Another year and this staff needs to take the next step in building a team. Will Grier has little to no impact on that….
    • Three straight first round WRs is straight up Matt Millen poo. Considering the draft capital we have tied up on Bryce after that trade we would basically have spent damn near all of our draft capital in recent years on QB and WR just to put one of the most anemic passing offenses in the league on the field. Clown show poo.
