What would you do

What happens if we don't sign him? I know in baseball you get an additional(one spot past the previous years spot) pick if they are unable to sign them.

I probably wouldn't even sign them, and trade them to the Bengals where doing dumb poo like that gets you a nice contract.

if we drafted someone at #1, couldn't sign them due to CBA, and then pictures surfaced of them doing cocaine at a club?

Would their past be a factor in your decision?

Should we not sign them?

Should we sign them and try and change them?

What would I do? Nothing.

Not a coke guy so don't take this the wrong way, but I think I would be way more concerned that he was careless enough to do it in front of someone snapping pictures than the fact he was doing it...

That being said, you use it as leverage in contract negotiations and have more frequent drug testing as needed.

If all else fails, sign him and just hope he turns into half the player either Dan Marino or Lawrence Taylor was (rumored coke heads). You can't not sign him and allow the Bengals or another bottom feeder to give our #1 pick his "second chance" before we get our shot with him.

    • Some people will shift the goal posts but he does still have to consistently help the team win, eventually. Not only help but be the reason. That's what franchise QB's do.
    • One of the Carolina Panthers' newest defenders thinks their pass rush can go from worst to first. ESPN's David Newton recently chatted with outside linebacker Pat Jones II, who signed with the Panthers as a free agent earlier this offseason. Jones comes over from an awfully impressive Minnesota Vikings defense—one that ranked first in takeaways (33), fourth in sacks (49) and second in QB pressure rate (44.4 percent) this past season. And despite a historically-bad campaign by Carolina's defense in 2024, the 26-year-old seems to believe his new unit can be similar—or even better—than his last. "I definitely think we could do something similar, if not better," Jones said, via Newton. "I've seen it before, so I know what it looks like. I look around the building and see we have exactly what it takes to do that." https://pantherswire.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/panthers/2025/05/24/panthers-pat-jones-vikings-espn/83840667007/?taid=683219b347846900018fa10a&utm_campaign=trueanthem&utm_medium=trueanthem&utm_source=twitter     It's the offseason.  Let hope spring eternal. (actually, I think we are much closer than this board thinks)
    • 5 total TDs against the Falcons was pretty good efficiency and he showed that ability to go off scripts and get 2 of those TDs rushing.  How many times did he deliver big time throws against pressure.  I agree we need to see this offense operate at high efficiency which starts with Bryce. When he does I hope the goals posts won’t shift to some other stat like QB sneaks lol
