...at least nobody is saying that Gabbert is going to change the game. :D

I'm not sure anyone said Cam was going to change the game. ;)

Saying someone is going to be something and could do something is two different things.

For example, Gabbert could be the next Brady.

Obviously, nobody said Gabbert would change the game. That's what I said. At least the biggest prediction we have out of him is that he's the next Brady, instead of the next "So Good He Could Change Everything."

Do you admit that you don't think Cam Newton will in fact change the game?

Not directed towards me, but I certainly think he will change the way the Panthers Football has been played since their inception. The game itself might stay the same..but if he plays up to his talent I'm sure people won't see the Panthers in the same light ever again..unless he takes his talents to Miami.

Do I think he will or do I think he can??

Do you think he is likely to do so.

Any player in this draft could change the game. For all we know, Dareus might turn into some goliath monster that smashes the lines of opposing defenses and forces them to have to commit two running backs to blocking him in addition to double and triple teaming him with linemen. But that's very unlikely to happen.

So how likely do you think it is that Newton changes the game?

I can't put a percentage on it bc that is unquantifiable. Sure anyone can be great. Dareus could end up being the greatest DT that every played. Peterson could become the next Prime Time. For all we know Stanzi could end up being the next Tom Brady like Football Metrics claims.

BUT Cam Newton's attributes are unique. They just are. There have been guys just as fast or faster like Mike Vick. There have been really strong QBs like Big Ben or Josh Freeman. There have been good dual threat potential like Vince Young or The Golden Calf of Bristol.

But when have you ever seen a guy with his size, throwing ability, agility, speed, strength, big time winner, etc.

Every guy you try to to compare him too doesn't fit. Mike Vick is faster but is tiny. If you get to him he goes down. Newton isn't as fast but not only do you have to catch him, you have to tackle him. Big Ben and Josh Freeman are just as strong and DE's and LB's have a tough time tackling him, Newton is just as strong as these guys yet is infinitely faster and more agile than either of those guys (Josh Freeman ran a 4.94 at his combine). The Golden Calf of Bristol is really strong and mobile, but his passing is less polished and he isn't as shifty, Vince Young also was not as polished a passer, less intelligent (9 on the wonderlic), is a little smaller, not as strong, and not as agile.

So here is the part that Haters just scoff at which I truly do understand. BUT Cam Newton has the attributes to at times be literally unstoppable.

There are a lot of ifs involved in that type of scenario. Like if he becomes a consistent passer, if he picks up a pro style offense quickly, if he stays healthy, if he learns how to read an NFL defense, etc. Nut Huggers believe he is likely to achieve these ifs and he isn't that far away from them, the Haters believe he won't and has too far to go.

But IF he does these things, and IF he works to the maximum of his ability. Then with a D-Will, J-Stew, and a Steve Smith opposing teams will have an incredibly tough time if not impossible time stopping Cam Newton and the Panther offense.

And IF (again I recognize these are big if) he becomes that dominate player like he was in college. He could set a new standard in what teams want in an NFL QB. I know you guys say "Well it has never happened before." But if it had happened before he wouldn't be changing anything. That is kinda the point. But nobody has ever had the attributes of a Cam Newton therefore he is unique. His unique athleticism is why he has been so hard to scout and why people are all over the spectrum with the guy. How much you like him is likely proportional to how much of a benefit you believe him athleticism really is.

Now I realize you are skeptical and it might not be a likely scenario. But it IS possible. Just like it is possible that Blaine Gabbert becomes the next Tom Brady. But Gabbert is prototypical so he wouldn't change anything if he did. Doesn't mean he can't be great.

But Cam Newton has the chance (however large or small you think that chance is) to be dominate in a way we have never seen before.

I think he compares better to people not playing football..like a Tiger Woods or Lebron James..people who are at times just physically better then everyone else playing the game.
