Regardless of what someone else thinks they know what they are talking about, they tend to TRY harder for someone they want. Like any other job, you give your best, but will go the "extra mile" for someone that you want...

Do not, underestimate this any team or profession...

Jake was not that good for long. Once teams had film on him and he knew Fox was nut hugging him, he was toast. Do not see any defensive player (with that kinda of talent), watching their offense go 3 and out and throwing INTs wanting to stay. At that time players really didn't say a lot under Fox (since then) they are speaking out alittle more..

Smitty wants a QB

Williams wants a QB

Beason says he'd be surprised, if Newton isn't taken #1...hint...hint

This would never have happened under Fox. Question is, how many felt that way that walked/gave up, but never said or hinted to the QB situation (in public)???

Jake was never a super star, he certainly never deserved to be in a Pro Bowl, but he wasn't Mr. Three and Out/Interception until after the Arizona playoff game. He wasn't really a weak link until after Arizona, and Peppers was already one foot out the door for a couple seasons at that point.

Ahh so all those INTs I seen the year before never happened? Or those 3 and outs? Thanks for the clarification.

3 and out are not tracked (that way), guess you have to watch the games...

2 good years...possibly 3 before injury..out of 7 years

2003 TDs 19 INT 16 GS 15

2004 TDs 29 INT 15 GS 16

2005 TDs 24 INT 16 GS 16

2006 TDs 17 INT 11 GS 13

2007 TDs 8 INT 1 GS 3

2008 TDs 15 INT 12 GS 16

2009 TDs 8 INT 18 GS 11

I care less about TD/INTs and more about his leadership on the field.

How many times did we hear Chris Berman go, "Daylight comes and you gotta Delhomme"? as stupid as the saying was, he said it for a reason. Jake was far better than his statistics suggest in his first 5 years here, and while he was far from perfect, nobody left the team because of him.

Hell, he got us to the playoffs in 2008 and if not for that disaster in Arizona, who knows where we'd be right now. That game as much as the surgery seemed to break Jake.

Funny thing, even in the off years (of the group I was referring to, 08 and before) the worst ones - 03 and 08 - were the years the team was the best. Even when Delhomme was playing his worst, he was good enough for the team to succeed. I don't want to be confused for a Jake apologist, after the Arizona game he had one more shot in my mind and pissed away that shot against Philly, but he wasn't bad before January '09. There were plenty of teams worse at QB than us, and I'm pretty sure Ms. Cleo didn't tell Peppers to get outta Carolina while the getting was good a year or two before Jake collapsed.

I'm not going through all the games to get the fumbles he lost and the 3 and outs. Your impression of delhomme and mine are different.

We got to a Super Bowl, yes. When he was good. After that our playoffs were after a losing years and we played lesser teams to make to make it and won less game in the playoffs each time.

Leadership only goes so far when you keep turning the ball over. People get tried of it.

Everytime Delhomme comes up, people say how good we were with only 3 winning seasons (following a losing year), is amazing. He had some good years, but more bad ones. Again, there are the 3 and outs and fumbles he lost, that go with those INTs.

2002 7-9

Delhomme era

2003 11-5 Playoff year won 3 games lost SB Jake Delhomme replaces Peete at Jags game TDs 19 INT 16 GS 15

2004 7-9 TDs 29 INT 15 GS 16

2005 11-5 Playoff year won 2 games TDs 24 INT 16 GS 16

2006 8-8 TDs 17 INT 11 GS 13

2007 7-9 TDs 8 INT 1 GS 3 injury year

2008 12-4 lost 1st game in playoffs TDs 15 INT 12 GS 16

2009 8-8 TDs 8 INT 18 GS 11

I see a pattern of making playoffs after a losing year and winning less and less playoff games. Peppers said in 2009 he didn't want to return, that would be following 2006 8-8, 2007 7-9 and the complete break down in the playoffs. I'm not saying that is the only reason he left, but anyone saying it doesn't factor in, isn't being realistic.

Tell me this. If Peppers wanted some place with great, consistent QB play, why did he go to the Bears?

Because QB play didn't matter that much to him. If it did, he would have taken less money and gone to the Patriots or some place else.

Unless you've heard him say it some place, I think you're just reaching by claiming Jake had anything to do with Peppers leaving.

But people they want don't tend to be what's best for the team.

Beason also wanted VY

Pretty sure getting a good QB is good for the team. As for Beason wanting VY, isn't he a QB (was last time I checked)?? Like the fans he is probably grasping for straws with anybody other than what we have had over the past 5 years. Which is the whole point we need a good a QB....:yikes:

You know as well as I do, players didn't say anything like that under Fox. Again unrealistic that poor QB play doesn't play into it.

The Bears are better than the Panthers, at this point. The Bears were willing to pay, for one. Players want to win Super Bowls, Cutler and the Bears have a better chance of that than Delomme, MM or now JC. They were 11-5 last year, 1st year Cutler was there.

Now that Fox is gone, there are more players speaking out, and it seems to be about ......can you guess....QB,.

actually that was Cutler's second year. In his first year, the only year Peppers would have seen when deciding to choose them, they were 7-9 and Culter had 26 interceptions and 8 fumbles.

he left a team where a guy had just gone 4-1 and had only throw 2 INTs in those games while operating the offense extremely well.

if anything, he left a team that looked like it had a QB on the upswing to go to one that was throwing interceptions like it was the 2008 playoffs.

Interestingly enough, D-Will actually said "mold a quarterback they already have into a championship caliber quarterback", so that doesn't imply we need to draft a QB to keep hi,.

So he wants Matt Moore. He know what's up.

I'll say this about Delhomme. He used to be good, but Matt Moore has been better than him since he was a rookie in 2007. We would have beaten Arizona if Fox switched to Moore, we were the more talented team.
