Are the panthers that bad?

We need a QB, 2 DTs, OL (2 Flex T/G backups and a RG), CB2 (We are def in need a tall corner to compete better with White, Marques Col, Stovall, etc.), and a safety-safety net for Godfrey at the very least. We've got talent no question about it, but we have a ton of holes

We certainly have some rock solid talent, but much of it is devoted to positions that don't make teams all that much better.

Having the best backfield and the best LB core in the NFL does not make you a playoff team.

4 of our 6 or 7 best players are at LB or RB.

That is a great point

The positions that we need the most help at are the ones that are some of the most valuable to a team in the modern NFL - QB, DT, & WR. The Ravens are a solid example of a team who was struggling in this territory, then solved the issue by getting Boldin, TJ, Ngata, and most importantly Flacco. They're now a contender virtually every season.

Ironically, they just so happen to also be the team that had an insane enough defense and running game to make a run with Trent Dilfer.

I guarantee you if Clausen, Moore, or some QB addition comes in next seasons and play at least admirably and makes us competitive you will see a bunch of espn dick heads say how talented we are.

It kind of makes me want to work at ESPN just so I can be a massive homer to my team and argue for panther players.

"Patrick Willis?..... Patrick Willis? I'm taking the BEAST-SON."

The hardest positions to find grade A talent at the NFL level are the ones that cost the most, and are the most important.

QB, DT, DE, CB, and ironicly those are the ones that we need the most help on.

Don't get me wrong, I love Beason, Davis, DWill, and Stew, but they all play a position that is not nearly as important as the ones listed above.

Actually, I think you will find that QB, OLT, and DE are the 3 recognized premium positions.

What's ridiculous is how rose colored your glasses are.

Brown has shown nothing. CJ may walk.

Otah is injury prone.

Marshall may walk.

What the hell do you call that?

CJ "may" walk, Marshall "may" walk, Beason "may" retire, everyone on the team "may" die in a plane crash. If it hasn't happened yet, don't count on it.

Otah being injury prone is why we need depth. We have easily top 10 pair of starters at OT, but our backups last year weren't great. Like I said, we need depth.

Brown didn't show nothing, it's already been pointed out he had like 3.5 or 4 or something sacks in the last 5 games. He likely will never be a superstar but he's been showing improvement all the time. CJ + Hardy + Brown = quality rotation at worst. Could use a little depth at most. That's it.

IF Marshall walks, yes we need a starting CB2. But he hasn't left yet. What do we need? Depth.

What the hell I call that is needing depth at some key positions (OL, CB), but not huge holes at every position, just at QB and DT.
