I am not comparing stealing laptops to violent crime, I am merely stating that scouts and owners of NFL teams pay attention to ALL red flags, and for good reason.

I agree, scouts and owners should pay attention to red flags. But what's ridiculous is the amount of attention some people give Cam's. This thread is a good example. There is no reason why we should be talking about him. But everything he does is put under a microscope, taken out of context, or exaggerated beyond reason.

There are some players in the NFL right now who did, by some poor judgement or bad behavior, kill someone or be around a killing. They are still playing (Leonard Little, Dante Stallworth, and then the next annoited HOF LB, Ray Lewis).

There are many others who beat their (insert relationship here).

There was a member of the Panthers o-line, picked up from JAX, and I can't remember his name at the moment, convicted of physical child abuse, both he AND his wife and I met both of them and thought they were nice people...apparently, they weren't.

...others congratulated college, yes college, and could not read (anyone remember Dexter Manley?)....wonder how that happened?

Sometimes the owners can do something, sometimes they can't because of the Union.

Sometimes, they just don't. Steve Smith, after the first broken jaw of a teammate, should have been cut. He wasn't. He did it again. Should have been cut, he wasn't.

I guess it's a matter of opinion with violence as to whether it is a red flag, or you know, just boys being boys.

My point with all this is simply that thinking there are players in the NFL now, that perhaps didn't show red flags in college, that don't have red flags now, is crazy and most owners/gms, don't care. Can they play ball, ok, that's all that matters.

I just find it so funny that people talk about 'character' issues in college when most times, these big schools just pass on players anyway.

If anyone expects choir boys in the NFL, then go to BYU and get them...and even BYU had McMahon..please.

Otherwise, it's a total crap shoot on character, and what is character anyway, I mean, who thinks Brett Farve's image of playing through his Father's Death, his wife's breast cancer, and became just the icon, that the little cell phone episode was the first time that happened, I mean come on.

We'd all like our sports heros to be somehow greater in character than we are, but, just isn't factual. If anything, athletes have had things handed to them their whole lives because they can play a game and they are very narccistic (sp).

I somehow think the truest picture of the NFL was 'North Dallas Forty' and the old ESPN series, 'Playmaker'.
