I think the show runners know that books 4 and 5 have some parts that might raise some issues for the television show so they are taking some steps to try and move the story forward by creating some short cuts to get to the meat of the major events and keeping the show to 7/8 seasons.

I don't have any problems with that, and they are staying true to the overall arc of the story but are finding ways to consolidate some of the more problematic issues of AFFC and ADWD

I think book readers should start to become accustom to them working around some story lines and yet still get to the same point of the story.

I still contend that a large amount of the Greyjoy storyline in AFFC will get paired down considerably and they will find short cuts to limit that stuff but still get to the same result

It isn't very often that you have the author of a novel(s) turned into a series/movie:

A)  Be alive.

B)  Completely embrace changes for the necessity of the tramsition from novelization to visualization.

C)  Help in any way they can to facilitate it.

That being said, I can see the frustration of a lot of readers -> viewers wondering why some changes are being made.

As a reader, I haven't disliked any of the changes, but here is how I got to that (and where the nerd in me shows its face).

Back when LOTR was coming to the silver screen, I wanted to boycott everything about the trilogy because I knew some of my favorite moments would not make the reel.  I wanted it to go by the book, scene by scene.

Then I thought, what if this is just Tolkien and Jackson recalling the events of a world that truly existed and their interpretation of it?

It made it a lot easier to go into the movies with that thought process and enjoy all interpretations.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/people/wilko-johnson-diagnosed-with-terminal-cancer-undergoes-pioneering-operation-which-could-save-his-life-9307234.html

Guitarist Wilko Johnson, who was told he had 10 months to live after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, has undergone a pioneering major operation which it is hoped could save his life.

Johnson, 66, has pulled out of Glastonbury Festival and other live shows as a result of the operation.

Hope it turns out well for him. Also, who knew that Ilyn Payne could play guitar?
