Bucky Brooks: Carolina building for Newton

Hello, all! I am new to this site so I just wanted to get my name out there encase you were all wondering who the hell is this guy haha. I've been a Panthers fan since 95. I am 21 years old and I never missed a Panthers game in there whole history. So I do follow it religiously. As for the us building around Cam.. meh. I still think we should give Clausen one more chance. Just one. And get Matt back to take a few snaps to see what he can do. I'm not saying Cam won't be good cause well I think he will be. But, we can't pass up on top tier talent like a Peterson or Green. Two words TRADE DOWN! I'm not at all sold on the Cam pick. But I wouldn't be heart broken. This is a if a BIG if but what if Clausen actually thrives in this system? Coach Fox didn't like him so he kept going back and forth on him throughout the season. Me being a QB for 4 years knows how mentally draining that is.. and emotionally draining. I say give Clausen another chance. What do we have to really lose this year? After all we are rebuilding..

last time Chud displayed his offense on an NFL field.....it was not the offense being run in SD recently.

some common elements but that SD is NOT Chud's offense. Chud could tweak his Browns offense and Cam would be a decent fit. Hand the ball off........then look to go deep on playaction and using his legs.

Chud just doesn't need to throw his entire playbook at ANY young QB year 1 of this era......

Well at this point in his career you blitz the hell out of Newton and hope he makes a mistake (likely as a rookie). He's gonna be a Panther...There almost isn't even an argument against it. I hope it works out though.

Naive.

Reminds me of the time I took the ferry to Shelbyville. I needed a new heel for my shoe so I decided to go to Morganville, which is what they called Shelbyville in those days. So I tied an onion to my belt, which was the style at the time. Now to take the ferry cost a nickel, and in those days, nickels had pictures of bumblebees on them. Give me five bees for a quarter you'd say. Now where were we. The important thing was that I had an onion on my belt, which was the style at the time. They didn't have white onions because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big yellow ones.

    • Did you watch it? I saw stuff that was behind guys and stuff like that I thought it looked pretty average for NFL QBs but I am no PFF metric dog.
    • Haven’t watched the last two until last 3 mins of each game. Just been refreshing the NHL app. Do I change the mojo for tonight?
    • I feel like anyone within the Panthers fanbase no matter where they land on Bryce should agree on this. He's a good kid. He's intelligent. But ultimately is he going to ever be the guy to command a locker room? Obviously none of us can say. But I just don't get any alpha vibes from him whatsoever. Is that a dealbreaker? Not necessarily. Here's the thing though. We had the talk of his generational years ahead of his age leadership trait clubbed over our heads for weeks nonstop before the draft. But after seeing someone like Sam Darnold navigate life as a starting QB I think anyone here should be able to acknowledge homerism there are some similarities to Darnold in terms of personality. That is not what we were sold. All of this takes me back to before the draft. I just can't shake the sense that Stroud just rubbed Tepper or someone the wrong way. Was he too confident? Not subservient enough? Did they feel Bryce was more marketable and media savvy? My gut says these things weighed more into the pick than they should have. If not. Stroud more than likely would have been the selection. What's done is done though. I'm just like you though. I want to see some fire from Bryce at some point this season. But I'm expecting to be disappointed considering his first order of business following one of the worst rookie seasons ever was to detach completely and do nothing. As always. Hoping for the best. I feel like I have to put a disclaimer at the end of this post for the Bryce superfans. I want to see him do well. I don't want this to end in the worst case scenario. There now we can be friends!
