QB Camp: Newton

Mr. Scot

Why compare Cam to PeyPey? He's a Big Ben clone if things turn out right.

If he ever had the brains/accuracy anywhere close to Manning he'd be the greatest player the NFL has ever seen.

What you have to hope is that he doesn't have the brains of Roethlisberger.

What you just described I have no problem with.

A guy disobeying a coaches order? Not so good.

What were Chizik's orders?? Can you confirm that he didn't tell him "if you see something you like go ahead and score."?

*I realize this pic is obnoxious but I have to have a pic.

If that had been the situation, there never would have been a story in the first place.

Chizik has never said "I gave him permission to freelance".

I never said you should care. I said I care. If you don't care, that doesn't bother me at all. All I said was I didn't like his answer. I didn't say "AND TEERAY YOU SHOULDN'T EITHER!!!"

MAV you just asked me the post above if I cared. :D :D

And that what makes me more comfortable with Cam.

Cam and Pete Carrol? No way.

Cam and Fox? Eh, dont like it.

Cam and Rivera? I think Cam will know his place.

Rivera being here makes me feel a lot more at ease with a lot of these high-risk guys as well.

Teeray: Normally I enjoy your banter, but let's be reasonable for a moment. You have now claimed that because Peyton Manning waved off the punt team during his 7th season in the NFL (after already being a x4 Pro Bowler, x2 AFC PotY, AP NFL MVP, and on his way that season to another Pro Bowl, AFC Player of the Year, and AP NFL MVP award each), that it was okay for Cam Newton during his first season as the starter for Auburn during the National Championship game to not listen to his coach during the final moments of the entire season and his college career?

Can we extend that gag order until May 28th?

The story was created by the media. The speculated because they were in victory formation. They are probably right. But we don't know that for sure.

Why exactly do you bother with the pictures when you are posting things anyway? You are far more annoying with all these idiotic images.

I didn't tell you TO care I asked you if you DID care. I'm explaining why *I* didn't like his answer, and was asking if given that perspective if you could see why I felt that way. Apparently not.

Some FO had as much to do with creating a furor over it as any media group, since they're the ones that asked him about it at the combine and caused a bit furor over it after that. The FO wasn't speculating; they were told that is what happened, or so it was made out to be.

People at Auburn have been quick to defend him, so why wouldn't they have said "nah, it was a called QB sneak if it was there" instead of saying "yeah well we don't care that he went against the play call"? Meh.

You care if a Heisman Trophy winner does it on his college team but not when Peyton Manning does it??

:)

    • this     I never cease to be amazed at the number of people who will run up their blood pressure to get to the grocery store 30 seconds faster or are racing to get to work like it won’t be there at 8:02.   The only thing I’ve ever done that I think added more years to my life besides quitting smoking, was to learn to go with the flow behind the wheel.
    • The term you're looking for is "malinger(ed)", and he didn't.  I'm not sure why Panthers fans act like jaded ex girlfriends.  The dude is clearly injury prone as his time in San Fransico also proves. It's not like he got to San Fran and stopped having problems.
    • My long and rambling post:   The guy is all heart, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he came back even better next year. He’s exactly the guy you lock up. The money won’t ever change the way he plays.  It was a big fumble, but what 1,000 yard back fumbles once in an entire season?  Pride. This team is FINALLY seeing guys who obviously take the game very seriously. Hunt, Chuba, Thielen, Brown, Horn (CB), Coker, Bryce (IMHO). Bye bye, Spider-Man. I don’t see these dudes being OK with teammates half-assing practice or in games. I can see Brown and Horn coming over to talk to somebody.  Good team? Ummm, maybe, but will still likely lose more close games than they win unless this last draft turns in to LOB part 2. That’s a stretch.  Pretty good/decent team. Yes. They finished the season as a pretty good team. I know I sound like a broken record harping back to it, but going in to ATL and putting a 40 burger on them en route to an OT win. A bad Panthers team would have had their brakes beaten off. We’ve seen it.  Rose colored glasses on and bonging a 40 of hopium: There are watershed moments that occur that change the course of franchises, both good and bad. If Fox doesn’t pull Rodney at halftime, the epic journey that was 2003 never happens. On the negative side, Cam taking that one hit from Watt was the end of any and all Panthers relevancy and we’ve been the biggest losers in all of pro sports as a result. Watershed moments. LOB draft. Vinny goes down and the goat is born.  Will the ATL game be the spark that this franchise has desperately needed? Could it be that they hit the mega million jackpot with Princley and Scourton as eat QBs for breakfast? Sure would be nice having 2 all-pro edge guys on the cheap for the next 4 years.  A lot of unknowns, but at least it actually feels  fun again.
