I wonder which tag, non exclusive or exclusive?

It was non-exclusive. Which I think was the way to go. If a team (any team) wants to give up 2 first rounds picks for him...then let 'em. Also his salary (or cap figure) is cheaper under the non-exclusive scenario since he will make the average of the top 5 DE from last year ($16.7 million). If they had gone exclusive, it would be the average of the top 5 THIS year after the FA signing period.

i hope peppers breaks strahans record, just to show some of you haters whats up. Anyone Disrespecting Peppers for his decision is truly not a panthers fan,and most likely never was.......

I don't see how you can be a Panthers fan and not be upset by his decision.

Being upset by his decision is one thing. Trashing the guy because he wants a change of scenery is another. Do you honestly think his prime motivation for looking elsewhere is to piss you and others off? The guy doesn't think he's able to maximize his potential here. Whether that evaluation is right or wrong isn't the point.

Hell, I'm pissed about it but at the same time I can understand where he's coming from. Take a course in psychology if you're having a hard time dealing with this.

Let's get the most we can out of the situation and move on.

Wow the hate on this board is unreal for one of the best players we've ever had. The NFL is a business, get over it ladies.

And we offered him money from a business standpoint. He still chose to run his yap like a girl, and make this more personal. Eff him.

That's my point, moron. It wasn't strictly 'business'. And most of us are thrilled now, only you Peppers jock-holders are the one upset. Grab a tissue, nancy.

You're the one getting upset over this. IT'S A BUSINESS. In other words, Peppers signed a contract...he and the Panthers both fulfilled their ends of that contract. The contract is now up. Peppers is a free agent and can do what he wants. From a business standpoint both parties, Peppers and the Panthers, have an obligation to only themselves in meeting their own individual needs. Peppers has made up his mind and is leaving. The Panthers are taking action by placing the franchise tag on him. Now we wait and see what happens.

You can cross your eyes, hold your breath, and stomp your feet...it changes nothing.

    • Was just reading the Ask the Old Guy story on the team's website and was shocked to see that only two 2nd Rounders have signed so far, 30 of them haven't. That isn't normal, the Texans really screwed things up for the rest of the league, no other explanation that I can think of for 30 of the 32 picks to still be unsigned at this point.
    • They need to address CB before season starts. This is not going to cut it.
    • Except it wouldn't be Rodgers leading them on a postseason run, it would be the defense and he's there to not screw up their great games. Which is why..... This times a million. I didn't watch a ton of the Jets last year, but from what I did see, Rodgers himself didn't look like a bum, the team just struggled and was more than likely due to poor coaching on the whole.  The Steelers don't need MVP level Rodgers to win games, they just need him to be good enough to make some plays when it matters because the defense is keeping them in games every week regardless. In their 7 losses last season, the Steelers scored 10, 13, 17, 17, 17, 19, and 24... while giving up 19, 20, 24, 27, 27, 29, and 34 in those games.  With only marginally better offense last year, they probably end up winning a few more games too. They only scored over 27 points in 3 games last season. I think this is a great move by the Steelers and if Rodgers can stay healthy all year, will get them back into the playoffs and could make some noise if their defense is up to the normal level of a Steelers defense.
