If he wants assurance he will absolutely positively play only WOLB he won't get that in NE.

that's why my 3-4 team list has Cleveland, Miami, Jets and Denver. Possibly Arizona since they play a hybrid of both the 4-3 and the 3-4.

Jets have a new coach who's focus is on defense, someone peppers would probably want to play for and in the 3-4 system, they were almost a playoff team last year and could be back depending on QB play. If he goes here they could put Peppers in at WOLB and move Gholston inside or to the other OLB spot.

Cleveland was a playoff team a year ago, so they could easily get back there with a couple of pieces added to the mix.

Denver was one game out last year and could make a push this season with the new coach, especially if they improve the defense. (pepper would help out in that regard.)

Miami was a playoff team, they could make the trade for Peppers. I think they are the long shot out of the three I listed above.

Arizona was in the Superbowl, they play some 3-4. (peppers would get the chance to see what he can do at WOLB.) They have plenty of cap space and puzzle pieces they could trade. I don't see this one happening because If peppers does want to play WOLB, he'll probably want to play it full time.

Peppers is full of poo. If he wants to quit on 80% of his plays, boast about how good he would be if he actually tried and then think that being a WOLB will utilize his skills better than at DE is just beyond me. You have to be good to play WOLB, not lazy.

If he can get by going through the motions and get paid as well as he has and will be then more power to him.

The "need a change to reach his potential" BS is just him saying to suitors he's worth a big fat paycheck. That it was the system that made him look like he was playing at less than full speed. It was the system that had his motor bogged down.

IMO this whole thing comes down to Pep wanting to continue to float through life, it all started falling apart when Richardson called him out. He realized the Panthers were going to pressure him to step up and he balked by having a shitty 07. He woke up in 08 to secure another payday, but he doesn't want it in Charlotte because he knows the expectations.

I think he figures if he can land on the right team he can get paid and go back to giving a half assed effort without the scrutiny. There's nothing wrong with that as long as he moves on, I just want him gone.

he's flat out said that he won't play if that happens. He'll sit out. Quite certain they'll trade him..

No, that's not true, he's never said that. He said he will not sign a long term contract with the Panthers, big difference. I don't care one way or the other. Let's just let it play out and be done with it. But he has never said that he would sit out, you're projecting your own thoughts into it...

    • I think they are holding back to see what they have in the young guys, but I think it's a near certainty at some point they will bring someone else in. Right now (assuming we keep 5 CBs which is normal), the top 5 IMO are: 1) Jaycee Horn 2) Mike Jackson 3) Chau Smith-Wade 4) Shemar Bartholomew  5) Akayleb Evans   Obviously Jaycee is the alpha in that room and paid as such. Need him to stay healthy and continue to play at a Pro-Bowl level. Mike Jack did pretty well all things considered last year, and they gave him lower-level starter money. Fair deal for both sides.  Smith-Wade showed some promise as a slot CB. I think low-key he's a lock for the team. Different size and skill set than the other CBs. Shemar Bartholomew was the most sought after waiver claim last preseason. Was 5th CB most and inactive most of last year. Had a few defensive and ST snaps. Nothing of note good or bad but too small a sample size to make any judgment. Akayleb Evans was a 2022 4th Rounder for the Vikings. Has started 19 games (including Week 18 for the Panthers) in his career and played in 43. Was pretty good in 2023 before getting injured and falling down the depth chart last year. There's some other guys on the outside looking in, but until they show more in training camp I dont see anyway they make the 53. And only Jaycee, Mike Jack, and Smith-Wade are locks to make this roster IMO.
    • Was just reading the Ask the Old Guy story on the team's website and was shocked to see that only two 2nd Rounders have signed so far, 30 of them haven't. That isn't normal, the Texans really screwed things up for the rest of the league, no other explanation that I can think of for 30 of the 32 picks to still be unsigned at this point.
    • They need to address CB before season starts. This is not going to cut it.
