Taking the 15th ranked player with the #1 overall pick doesn't make much sense...

No you didn't mention luck...

BUT you are claiming that almost everybody that's been talking about our #1 pick is supposedly saying that we're NOT going to pick Newton!????

I'd like to know what you've been watching!!!!

I think we should pick Cam, but we ultimately won't...

For you to sit here and say that all the talking heads don't think we're going to draft Cam is absolutely bananas! That's all the media is talking about!

Congrats on copying and pasting the only links in the entire Internet that suggest we won't take him though!

Are you old enough to have the internet.....do your parents know that you're using the computer? Please direct me to where I said talking heads are saying we won't take Cam. Again.....projected picks (or mock drafts) and big boards are two completely different things....I'm not really sure whats so hard to understand....

What do we have behind Beason?

James Anderson, a guy who finally showed up a little bit when the walls were crumbling around him...

Thomas Davis who is coming off a second major injury...

Dan Connor who is a baller but isn't a superstar...

What else?

In our scheme changes we'll likely need to roll at least five deep, all players possessing the ability to start in different looks... I see four up there, and Miller would immediately be #2 in that equation...

I'm more on the Dareus wagon, but I could see Rivera/Hurney causing a fuss by picking Miller...

Dude Anderson played well this season. I agree we've got enough picks we should look at a LBer in the middle rounds, but if there's any worse example of frivolous drafting than picking Stewart top 15 in 2008, it would be taking another linebacker no.1 when you have one outstanding starter and a guy that's fresh off of a breakout season already.

First question you asked first:

I don't think the current QB situation is as dire as most Chicken Little's here think... especially if we bring MM back... I'd love to pick up a post-CBA FA, sure... but he doesn't have to be a day one starter... just like Cam or any other rookie wouldn't be...

Now to the above post...

No, QB is not the most important position... as evidenced by the Panthers squad that made the Super Bowl... Football is a team sport, and Stephen Davis, Steve Smith, Muhsin Muhammad, and a stingy defense had way more to do with that run than Jake Delhomme did... The stuff that Jake did have going for him that year was that he was an unknown, and there wasn't much to look at on tape of him that anyone cared about...

QBs do get taken earlier sometimes, but do I really need to rattle off the failed calls, specifically at that position, over the years? Teams that fail at drafting the correct player and taking a QB that doesn't pan out end up hurting their franchise more than helping it... IMO

Again, I have no real malice for Cam, Gabbert, or any QB in this draft, other than the fact that they are QBs...

If we go that route, cool beans... I'll especially be glad if it works out and whoever it is succeeds on the field...

But if we do, and he doesn't... don't be mad when I say I told you we could have had someone better...

Why is John Fox still trolling our board? Don't you have another team to run into the ground with 1970's football? :p

I feel that way with you and Luck. Your loyalty to him blinds you to the fact he's unproven. He's all potential at this point and the notion that he stands head and shoulders above the QBs in this class is laughable. His draft stock might never be as high as it was after the Orange Bowl. USA Today is the publication that is calling Cam Newton "The Consensus #1". There are other publications that consider Newton the best QB and consensus #1 in this draft. Surprised you havent seen them.

Get em!!! Get em!!! Tell these people what the media is selling! Obviously the only info they have is the info they have collected from this blog!!! Lmao!!!

Click on their top 500 player rankings

USA today has him ranked 11th.

You're the one who's blind. That's a fact.

Show me a major publication with Cam Newton rated as the #1 prospect in the country. A publication that says Newton is a better quarterback than Peterson is a cornerback etc.

How is Newton anymore proven than Luck? You place a ton of weight on the Heisman and national championships even though those don't any correlation to nfl success. You can't prove that either.

You're inexplicably infatuated with Newton to a point that's only excusable if you're a family member, friend, or Auburn alumni.

wait why do you hate andrew luck? why wouldn't you take him at #1?

I can tell you that I NEVER want to see him in a Panthers Jersey! He sold us out! Played our faces!! Fug that dude! I can only hope that something very bad happens to him this year so that he never even gets drafted!
