Actually "I couldn't care less" and "I could care less" are both appropriate terms.

"I could care less"- meaning you cared enough to address the situation, but you could care less. It's not an incorrect term.

Negative, the correct phrase is, "I couldn't care less."

Saying you could, in fact, care less negates the very meaning of the thread and is then contradictory.
