Possible Ruling today.

a player would have ratted a team out by now.

Right. Just like all the QBs out there with no idea what the next years' playbook will look like.

Players may rat out teams, but it won't happen until after deals fall through, which can't happen until the CBA is figured out. And while I'm sure there are some "win and a nod" things going on, I doubt anything has been done in writing, or in any way that would satisfy a burden of proof.

If there is free agency at midnight, how many deals will be done tomorrow morning that cause a little suspicion over some teams possibly breaking communication rules?

I thought they were going to have a 24-48 hour period where teams could negotiate with their own free agents prior to them hitting the open market?

That means free agents as soon as midnight tonight, holy shi-

STOP! There will NOT be any player trades, no free agents, nothing. The second she rules the other side will appeal and it is back being locked up.

All today does is stop this bull poo dog and pony show that both sides are putting on 'negotiating'. Nothing will get done till the courts rule and make the sides do something. The appeals process will take about 2 months if we are lucky. That will put us in August which means no free agents then either because camp should have already started.

 I don't think so. I think you are referring to an injunction meaning a quit halt to a judge's ruling. No way the owners are going to tick off the head judge in the case by going that route. An appeal will not freeze her ruling although it may put pause in the teams wanting to sign free agents if they fear a successful appeal will void any new contracts they sign although I think that is unlikely since they will be done in good faith.

Actually, you can STOP too! According to this article it's completely up to the judge!

"Judge Susan Richard Nelson could rule Monday on the Tom Brady lawsuit, and, by doing so, she'll give some direction as to how the next few months will go in the NFL.

Her ruling will have an impact on those teams considering the seven or eight top quarterbacks in this draft. If, for example, Judge Nelson lifts the lockout but allows the case to go on appeal to the Eighth Circuit Court, the lockout could stay in place at least through mid-June, which affects the ability of those rookie quarterbacks to prepare for the 2011 season."

As long as she doesn't allow it to go on appeal to the Eighth Circuit Court, we should be good!

So there is a possibility that we can and will see free agency during the draft! If that occurs there will be A LOT of scrambling being done by all teams, and GM's being that they probably weren't prepared for this! Should make for one hell of a draft if she rules against the league!

    • I guess so. Don't think I was involved with previous discussions.  Tepper is one of the newest owners in the NFL. Dan is going into his 3rd season as a GM - ever. Dave is going into his 3rd season as a HC - ever. Before becoming a HC, he was an OC/playcaller for one season total. Idzik is about to go into his 1st year as a play caller - ever. WRs are rookies, sophomores and 3rd year guys - though the experienced 3rd year guys are XL and Coker (who has missed a ton of games). TEs are guys going into their 2nd and 3rd seasons, and Tommy Tremble - though Sanders has missed a ton of games. QB has played 3 years. Chuba is an experienced RB, but Brooks and Etienne have taken very little snaps at the position. O-line is more experienced vets with some talent - which is HUGE. Need them to stay healthy. I mean the offense is very young in every aspect except O-line. You see it differently?
    • I said this ALL last season and will say it again this year. Our record means diddly squat this year, I don't care if we have 0 wins or 17 wins, I only care about one thing and one thing only. Bryce proves without a shadow of a doubt that he IS or ISN'T our long term solution at QB. It's the only thing that matters for the same reason it sucks that this is the same thing as last year.  This needs to be determined, and if they can't determine it, then it's still telling the team the answer, just not the one they want to hear. As right now we're in the ultimate QB purgatory, a position that dooms franchises for years.  Just look at a team like the Cardinals, who extended a better QB and it still screwed them over and haven't had a contending team in a long time. People get too caught up on wins and losses when evaluating players, particularly QBs.  When people look at the final record and use that as a reason to want to extend a QB or not is just a fools errand.  If we had lost 2-3 more games last year because we didn't make a last second FG, I genuinely wonder if we would have just moved on from Bryce this offseason (like we should have been doing anyways IMHO).
