Why Hurney will trade down.

I mean if I'm understanding you, we get some teams 2011 2nd and 2012 1st for our 2012 1st?? we're basically gaining a second THIS year and swapping picks right NEXT year? I mean, I don't know why one of these teams would even do that but... I just don't see why another team would do that, they'd have to be betting pretty hard that we would blow next year.

Its just a thought! Alot will happen tomorrow and players aren't bargaining chips, so Im expecting to see some unique draft trades. And I used the 49er's based on the crazy belief Harbaugh will pursue Luck. If we take Cam then we sure as hell will not go with Luck or Barkley or any other 2012 Qb

Yes and how many GMs would bet their job that we would blow hard enough and that they will be good enough that the trade you're proposing would be worth it? That's a huge, huge gamble...

and I don't think it is even one Marty Hurney would take, so.

I believe what you are saying is correct! It would jus be interesting to see if any GM had the guts to take that gamble!

Uh, no it means a 2-14 team wouldn't pick until #45, the 49ers 2nd round pick. I say no thank you. Maybe #1 for the 49ers 1st this year and next.

edit: Looks like Teeray and I both completely misread that. It wasn't for our #1 this year, it's for our first round pick next year.

I can't read :( Still not a good deal. Maybe even worser :D

Some of you guys are way to stressed out over this draft! Do like Im gonna do, wait till after they announce Cam Newton as our pick before you kill baby rabbits and snipe at passing vehicles on I-85 hoping one of the cars belongs to hurney! I joke, I joke! I wouldn't really kill baby rabbits!

    • It’s wild to me that so many of you guys are threatened by the idea of an opposing team fan who is polite in 2025. He’s been posting here on and off for years, usually when our teams play each other which hasn’t been for a while. I’d maybe understand this treatment if it was a falcons or saints fan, but packers fans in general are one of the nicer fan bases as long as you aren’t another NFC north team (especially the bears).
    • Some players excel on the big stage, while others freeze and succumb to the pressure. I’m not convinced Cam took a dive. I think he didn’t handle the stage very well. The pressure got to him and he folded. He wouldn’t be the first quarterback or player to struggle in a Super Bowl. Two HOF examples - John Elway and Jim Kelly. The 2002 MVP, Rich Gannon, threw 5 interceptions against the Bucs. Poor performances happen.  Unless of course you believe all these players threw the games they played in, but if that occurred, surely someone by now would have admitted taking a dive? 🤷‍♂️
    • It was always a matter of time with Cam’s playing style and a shorter shelf life than passers that protect themselves. I suppose Cam could have still been playing in 2028 ten years after the hit took place, but he would need to have evolved as a quarterback and become more of a passer than the dual threat maestro he was. It’s sad because it makes us think of what could have been, but I do feel it was always a matter of time until all the hits took their toll.
