The Panthers Cant take Newton

So we got Cam Newton supposedly going #1. We have a 2010 NFL rules set that quite possibly could be in place. We've got an owner who is heading up an aggressive movement to make sure that younger players get paid less (among other things). Aaaand we've got this dude here:

meet Bus Cook

He's famous for all sorts of things like:

per the wiki

Largest rookie contract in NFL history (Steve McNair, 1995)

Largest contract in NFL history. (Brett Favre, 1997)

First $100,000,000 contract in NFL History (Brett Favre, 2001)

Record setting contract paying out the most in the first three years in NFL history (McNair, 2001)

Largest non-QB contract in NFL history. (Randy Moss, 2001)

Innovative contract structure involving guaranteed money for record setting Rookie contract. (Calvin Johnson, 2007)

Here's a terrific story about how he gets down :svengo:

I just dont see it happening fellas. If it does I'll be excited and nervous, but I just dont see it.

lol now we bring in the agent as the reason not to draft him..whoever we draft is going to be highly paid anyway i doubt this would make them balk..come on now people..i'm just going to assume it's newton until they announce it as otherwise..if it is someone else the CIA need to hire Hurney.

    • I enjoyed reading this thread and the usual banter that follows. The only silver lining I can identify right now is we do actually have a couple of young QB's behind him and we do have a nice roster on both sides of the ball built around the most important position. So if the team overall shows some promise but we still falter largely due to a lack of consistent passing output (again) hopefully the decision makers can be free to make the best decision for the team going forward after the conclusion of this upcoming season.
    • I don't really follow the team anymore due to a variety of reasons and consequently have largely stopped posting but I agree that this is a lovely website and community. This forum probably kept me around for years longer than I would've stuck otherwise because of how difficult it was to stop checking multiple times a day. Especially appreciate how lax the moderation tends to be compared to a lot of places, the crew here does a great job. Out of curiousity I decided to try making a new account (solely for testing purposes) to see what exactly is wrong with the sign up process. The issue seems to be that it never sends you an account verification email, thus making it impossible to complete registration. This is likely something to do with the email server upstream, hope it gets fixed. Also, lol
    • Uh oh, Nicole Tepper hugged him. In all seriousness though every time I see more about him my hopes get higher. Smart, great attitude, prototype size and measurables, and athletic. He could be a great one.
