Colin Cowherd destroying CAR franchise on ESPN radio this AM

Cowherd's logic is flawed.....like always.

Yesterday he said he would put his paycheck on Newton being a bust for the following reasons.

Drafted by a team with a new coach

Drafted by a team with a defensive head coach

Drafted by a team w/ a weak WR corp

Drafted by a team in a tough division

That was it.

Well, if that is his sure fire way to tell you a QB will be a bust.....then his logic means he would have thought....

Matt Ryan, Mark Sanchez, Josh Freeman, etc. (ALL 4 points appled to them when drafted) would have all been busts....and those were guys he praised as recent success.

Yeah, he stated Cam will bust because he'll be going up against Ryan, Freeman and Brees year in and year out. Said Gabbert will be going to an easier division probably either Arizona or San Fran so he'll pan out.

I like Colin…. Listen to him just about every day. You don’t have to be an athlete or former player to be in sports talk radio. He is very opinionated, but for the most part he is interesting and not dull and boring like a lot of other sports talk stations.

Colin was not selling Cam stock at first, but after the Gruden fiasco he became a seller on Cam. Basically he had Greg Mcelroy on and a few other people and they were explaining how plays should be second nature to a QB…. The fact the Gruden asked him a simple question and he could not even name 1 play says a lot… Then talked about how Gruden bailed him out, says he’s only had to bail out a few young men during interviews before.

With that, plus he is not insanely accurate, and Colin has always said he does not believe you win as a QB by relying on the run. That’s why he told The Golden Calf of Bristol when he was on on air that he is a great person, but does not believe that will work for him in the NFL.

Adding to it he feels that Carolina is a mess…. You are throwing a guy into a situation with no WR’s not a lot of talent, and that’s usually when QB’s fail…. Said he is a seller on Blaine because he will got to Arizona or San Fran where he has top WR’s ect ect……

For all these reasons he believes taking Cam is a horrible move for the franchise that’s why he is bashing us right now….. you may not agree, but all of his points are valid and are not out of line…. Actually a lot of people share this view. Most people say…. I wouldn’t take him, but that’s the pick.

His job is pissing people off.

He also says arron rogers is overrated.

Well he said Aaron Rodgers was not Elite yet like some people were trying to make him out to be. Very very good, but not elite. People were basing that on their fantasy football perspectives. He had not won anything yet…. But he did take it like a man after Rodgers won the superbowl and took a shot at him… said it was deserved. But he did move him up to elite after he won the Superbowl.

i dont really blame him for saying "Rodgers isn't elite until he wins a Superbowl" during the regular season as long as he actually admitted that by his criteria since he has won it all he can be considered elite. (I don't have the same criteria but w/e)

While his logic is flawed, he is right that Gabbert is likely to have an easier time coming in to the league if he does indeed go to the NFC West. That alone won't guarantee success, tho... Just look at Alex Smith.

Good points. Actually he said if he were Hurney here's what he'd do:

Draft PP. You're going up against 3 potential pro bowl QBs all year long. Now you have a great cover guy to assist defending against these guys.

Focus your mid round draft picks on defensive guys and build up you defense.

We're not going to be very good next year against this division anyways and the other bad teams in league are going to improve.

Boom you have a great shot at Luck next year and now you've got one of the best QB prospects in the last 20yrs and a great D.

All valid points. Sorry folks.

Not true.... before Luck was going back to school he was talking nothing but positives about Luck and Carolina…

He believes we don’t HAVE to take a QB like everyone is saying. You need a QB but the RIGHT Qb is what he said… and for all those reasons above he does not believe Cam is that Manning, Brady, Big ben, Rodgers guy…. And being wrong sets the franchise back even further.

trust me I know he only wants to see the big market teams win, he harps on it all the time.
