We might trade to get in the 2nd

And this theory that Mallett and Dalton still being around will drive up trade value is a moot point. We're not looking to trade for #33, we'd be looking to trade for around #40 or 45, long after those two are gone. They'll probably be gone at #33 and 34/35/36.

No it's not a moot point, its a domino effect.

If they go early, then at least a few of the big time Defensive prospects slide even more.

So in the middle of the second round you have first round talent sitting there in the likes of Bowers, Austin or so forth....

Which drives the price of trading into the second round up....

You have to believe they know they need an instant impact player at CB,DT,OT and more than likely a wr.I think if Smith departs it may make sense to go after a Vet WR being we have nothing but 1 year wrs on the roster.Otah can not be counted on to be there for the season but with any luck will be in play next year so you could put more of a devemental player at OT.With Marshall likely leaving we need a cb and a good one now.We need a DT now.

Possible scenerio is we know we will get sometime of future draft pick for SSmith. It would be nice to parlay that future pick to trade up to the second.

I hate giving up picks trading up but will there be any imediate starters in the third ? Where is our next pick and who will it be?

They did get raped but we will be too if we can not cover there wrs and put pressure on the qb

Whoa, oddest thing I've seen on this board. In the thread, this comment is displayed as this to me:

I was going to say try again jarhead, we don't all speak grunt. But when I click "quote" it displays it as legible. Odd.

If we trade up to get a CB or a DT, that will be a waste. This draft is loaded with CBs and DTs, get Cam another weapon to work with, perhaps Kyle Rudolph or a WR. Yet with that said, Hurney should leave next year's draft alone, he might be fired after this season for all we know.

I agree we need another wr but would it not make sense for the Panthers to bring in a vet WR considering our current youth at WR.

If they trade this years 3rd and next years 2nd I can live with that but only if it were to get marvin austin, or brandon harris

No. I don't think you need to give up any next year picks. Here's why. We're in arguably one of the toughest divisions in the NFL. Two of our opponents just added more offensive weapons. We're talking about sitting Cam as long as possible to learn the system. Smith more than likely gone.

Sooo...you're talking about giving up, more than likely (but stranger things have happened) a 2nd rounder that might be in the upper half again. I'd stick with the 3rd/4th round pick and maybe another late pick.
