Will Steve Smith Stay ?

Smith already cleaned out everything. I don't think he will risk having another sorry season, because he is not getting any younger. Smith said a while ago, he hoped to be a hall of fame receiver (or something like that). There is no way he becomes that in Carolina, most of our fans have him retiring within two years time. So Smith is gone, and I hope we trade him to the Texans.

Plenty of HOF ended there career on a bad team. Panthers want be a bad team for very long with or without Smith.

If he gets traded we better get some good value in return.

Not likely. He is seen as an over the hill trouble maker with a few years left in the tank. We may hold him high but that does not mean everyone else does.

We trading him for a pick in this years draft?

Maybe but more likely next year pick. I would say a 4th round pick if I had too.

believe me. im about as close to the source as you can get.

You working for Draftheadquarters.com these days?

Regarding Smith, I wouldn't be totally certain it's his decision whether he stays or goes.

There have been indications that Rivera and Smith didn't exactly hit it off when they met. Given their respective personalities, that's not a huge stretch.

I wish we could be like

"yo *insert random team picking in the 2nd round*, pick Marvin Austin with your pick, and we'll pick whoever you want with our 3rd rounder. Then we'll trade you that player and Smitty for Austin in a week when we can"

I don't want Austin.

If thats the case I have to wonder what happened? Did Smith try to assert dominance and Chico tackled him? Or did Rivera call Smith shorty or small stuff?

These all need to be answered Dammit

    • Does this mean only topics from within the last year or any topics with posts from the last year? i.e. if there are any old threads we feel should be kept around for whatever reasons, would a bump of that thread before the update ensure it's kept around in full or do the posts from more than a year old still disappear?
    • I'm more intrigued at him becoming our future LG. There were some people who thought he was better suited to be a guard in the NFL to begin with.  Then if Freeling ends up being a legit LT, moving Ickey to LG could give us an incredibly strong left side of our OL for years to come. Ickey has only played on the Left side his whole career, both in college and the NFL, so I just wonder if keeping him on the left side, even if shifting inside, would be better than putting him outside on the right side. Just hoping him growing up a Panthers fan will make him want to stay here and move positions than enter FA so he can stay at LT somewhere else, particularly since LT is the big money position on the OL, so he likely can get paid more by someone else to play LT than play LG or RT here for us.
