Why so sensitive?

Mr. Scot

Recommended Posts

It's amazing Scot. :nonod: Some people picked against there preference and are being debbie downers about it.

Now is the time to be excited about our future. Not just next year, but the future as an organization.

They picked against my wishes too, but it's far from the first time that's happened.

I choose to trust that they made the decision thoughtfully and for valid reasons until I have reason to think otherwise (something that's not going to even be a possibility for a long, long time).

I just don't understand why some people will bash a draft pick just because they don't know anything about them. Believe me, this new Panthers coaching staff does know about these kids and they have a plan for how to use them. How can any of us pretend to know more than them when they have been watching tape and meeting these guys in person, and know exactly what kind of players they want for their system?

There are legitimate negatives and concerns about all draft picks. I have no problem whatsoever with those being discussed. No reason for people to be overly sensitive about it, honestly. All these guys have to prove themselves and either they will or they won't.

But heck, there's plenty of time for all that. Probably more than usual given the lockout stuff. And we've had plenty of consternation already this offseason in the wake of a season long crap sandwich.

It's draft weekend. Lighten up and enjoy the possibilities :)

Draft weekend is generally a time when even Bengals fans have visions of their team holding the Super Bowl trophy.

Heck, who should have more reason to be optimistic than us? Wholesale changes have been made in the team (for the better, I think) and while another disastrous year is technically possible, it isn't a stretch to say that we have nowhere to go but up.

And yet a significant portion of the discussion here today is about what could go wrong, dislike of Hurney / dislike of this year's picks or bad stuff someone said about us :(

I'm as big a believer in being realistic as you'll find, but even I gotta ask: For at least a day or two, wouldn't it be more fun to leave last year's disasters behind and dream a little?

WTF Scott? I've said multiple times we have nowhere to go but up but then you said to me we could end up going 0-16 or 1-16 or some other negative comment. I guess it was because the discussion was about Newton and you don't like him. But now that the discussion isn't about him, suddenly you think we have nowhere to go but up as well.

Yep at least this year we seem to be drafting real needs. They're all risks inherently. I'm much more excited about this franchise than I have been in a long time and each new step the organization makes just increases that excitement. Personally, I look forward to what the new staff has in store for the team and the fans.

I see a lot of posters in the last couple days that need to fix a new bowl of cornflakes sans-urine.

Can we leave behind this silly notion that not liking the pick equals having a personal dislike for the player himself? :frown2:

Didn't say we can't get worse. We most definitely can, which is the point I was trying to make to you before (and it's still true).

But heck, why think about that today? Why act like everybody hates us? Why dwell on what can go wrong?

For NFL teams and fans, this weekend is Christmas morning, so why not ejoy our shiny new toys?

(I swear I could see some of you guys spending Christmas morning sitting on the floor sulking about how next year is gonna suck)

Hardest Schedule in the NFL (based on last year) + One of the biggest projects ever + Not being able to practice/communicate due to greedy bastards = Recipe for disaster

sorry :(

That's my biggest worry. Our schedule is pretty brutal, the rest of the NFC South has had by FAR fantastic drafts, and my biggest worry is the inability for teams to start coaching and training because of this bullshit lockout. There are lots of red flags all over our team.

Yo KillerKat...

I think Mr. Scot is on board with the direction this team is going in. I honestly believe he's a Panther's fan first.

FWIW Scot... I'm looking past the previous battles we had.

I don't hold grudges.

I've already posted my ideas on how I think we need to proceed from here to make the whole thing work. Make no mistake. I have concerns, but that would have been the case regardless of who we picked. And now isn't the time to worry about it. I'd rather just enjoy a little optimism for a while.

Nobody on this board can tell if a pick will be a bust or not...everyone loved Dwayne Jarrett when he was drafted and thought he was a sure thing...shows how much we all don't know

I think the negative attitudes come from the lockout and unknown that stems from it.

While I was not in favor of the cameron pick at #1, everything that he has done and said since becoming a Panther has shown me that I might have been wrong about him. If he truly is willing to put in the effort and hard work that it takes to be great, then I hope he does become great. That can only help the team and whether someone likes the pick or not, what's done is done...get over it already. Move on and support the team.
