Smith supposedly wants out...

CHARLOTTE -- Like many NFL players, wide receiver Steve Smith’s future remains in limbo.

If it hadn’t been for the current NFL lockout, Smith might be playing for another team at this point, but since teams aren’t allowed to trade, players he remains a member of the Carolina Panthers — at least for now.

“It’s frustrating,” Smith said of the NFL lockout.

Smith again avoided direct questions Thursday about whether or not he wants to be traded, although sources have repeatedly told Carolina Growl he’s already expressed his desire to be traded to team management.

“It’s on hold because we’re not even allowed to presume there will be football,” Smith said of his future. “That privilege, and I emphasize privilege, has been taken away. There has been some mud-slinging going on, and people have had a chance to see the business aspect of football.”

If he's talking like that, I believe that means he wants out.

I went to the taco eating contest downtown today...yes, a taco eating contest. Smitty was in it against Moose. Anyway, when they introduced Smitty, they said..."Cheer for Smitty so he will stay next year."

When he got up, he showed a sort of disgust in his face and shook his head. It seemed more of a disappointed type expression. But, I can't really read into it too much, but it didn't look too good judging by what I saw.

You never know, he might of been thinking...'I can't believe he just said that', but I wouldn't think so.

    • The lack of discipline has seriously been our downfall the last month. Seems like we just went off course this last month and Lee won't address it. You can't just live and die by the 3 when you can attack the paint and at worst draw a foul
    • Great season regardless of what happens. From starting out 4-14 to ending 44-38 is incredible progress and future is bright from here. I do think we can beat the Heat and then win on the road against either Orlando or Philly assuming Embiid doesn’t miraculously return sooner. But if not, a higher draft pick is nice too
    • I know a DT that's asking for a trade: 🤔 maybe a home discount can be worked out. Dan Morgan could create up to $80 million in space through restructures of stars like Derrick Brown, Jaycee Horn, or Taylor Moton. They could also include players like Tershawn Wharton ($18.6M cap hit) in the trade to balance the salaries. Carolina Receives: DT  Dexter Lawrence II New York Receives: 2026 2nd Round Pick (No. 51 Overall): A premium Day 2 selection that fits the for  Lawrence  after his 0.5-sack season in 2025. WR  Xavier Legette : A young, high-upside receiver who provides the playmaking depth HC John Harbaugh needs for his offense. 2026 4th Round Pick: Immediate mid-round value. 2027 4th Round Pick (via MIN): Future capital acquired in the  Adam Thielen  trade.  ----- Stone Forsythe* (another young player as a potential trade option)provides immediate offensive line retooling for HC John Harbaugh.    John Harbaugh's history in Baltimore proves he values draft volume over individual superstars.    Just my 2cents
