WITH THE FIRST PICK, MCFARLANE TOYS SELECTS CAM NEWTON

Carolina Panthers’ draft pick gets the SportsPicks treatment in NFL 28

Following the NFL Draft, Todd McFarlane had a decision to make. A Collector Level slot in NFL 28 was being reserved for a Draft Pick figure, and it was up to Todd to decide which new pro was going to get drafted into OUR league. In the end, Todd agreed with the Carolina Panthers – who drafted Auburn quarterback Cam Newton with the first overall pick.

Newton put together an awe-inspiring run through the last college football season. Newton complete 66% of his passes for 2, 854 yards and 30 touchdowns, while also rushing for 1,473 yards and 20 more scores on the ground. He earned the Heisman Trophy as college football’s best player, and led the Tigers to a thrilling 22-19 win over the Oregon Ducks for the National Championship.

Newton will make his SportsPicks debut as part of NFL 28, set to arrive in stores in the middle of September. He’ll be wearing Carolina’s teal jersey, and will be available as a Bronze Collector Level figure. With only 3,000 individually-numbered figures heading out to retail, fans will be lining up to draft Newton into their own SportsPicks collection. Stay tuned to Spawn.com in the coming weeks to see prototype pictures of the figure.

This is awesome news. cannot wait to get my hands on one of these

Only problem is they're going to make Cam in that horrid blue home jersey and not the black.

Write Mcfarlane company a quick note Here: http://www.spawn.com/info/contact.aspx, and tell them you think Cam should be made in the black home uniform--the best uniform in football

yeah, why would they do the blue? Black is the way to go, or the white. But as little as blue is used it seems kind of weird. Do other figures get the alternate uni?

Nope. This is one of the only ones. Kind of ruins the figure. That's why if enough of us just write them a short note, I think they'll definitely change it before his figure goes into production.

Most of the figures have an alternate jersey, Jake had white with black as the variant, Peppers had the black with the white as the variant, and Smitty has the white with the blue as the variant. There isnt a fig I know of that doesnt have a chase variant available... I still havent decided to go get the Weinke or the S.Davis Panthers variant...

I guess you can all them 'action figures' Zod. I like having them decorating the room with my Panther Fathead and the rest of what I got. Its not like I reenact games with the figs, theyre just for show...

Thats cool that we get another McFarlane, I thought they'd have done a D.Will by now, guess Ima have to get another custom...

    • I think his football IQ is well below average. I do not think he can read defenses at all. He is not the long term answer. I'm getting worried about DC. I think he has problems seeing the big picture for each game. Some people can't accept it, but this game is greatly affected by momentum. It's hard to explain but you can just feel his decisions break it at least two or three times a game (I think he is pretty solid when it comes to 4th down decisions). My biggest concern is this. You have seen these coaches time and time again. For some reason you have these coaches that absolutely will not go with what is working. We need a name for these coaches, what is it? If something is working great, they just do not have the intelligence to comprehend that something working is actually good for their team. They cannot understand this. AND REPORTERS NEED TO CALL THIS OUT. Rushing was insane for the past two games...ok let's take half his carries away and have Bryce air it out (look at the attempts he had). The reporters need to freaking ask "((this)) was working, you didn't do ((this)), do you consider that bad coaching? If so, why? If not, why do you defend doing the opposite of what it best?" Anyone knows you keep doing something until they stop it. But you have these coaches that think the are going to pull a fast one on them and do the thing that is not working. Dave is starting to remind me of that guy in the movie Kung Pow. I think his name was Weeblow or something, he had those squeaky shoes when he ran around. The Kung Fu masters trained him wrong as a joke, so he did things to get the crap beat out of him instead of winning the fight. I am going to start calling Dave Canales WEEBLOW if he keeps doing the opposite of what would win. But seriously, if he is going to be that type of coach, I would honestly get rid of him after this season. You 100% do not want a coach with this flaw...they may have one good fluke season but it will be years of terrible teams.
    • I mean the Bronco's only won by 1, but no one there is complaining.
    • A QB who can't consistently throw the ball 20 yards downfield has no business being a starting QB in this league. That is a backup QB who you put in there to manage a game when your starter goes down.
