I have only seen him in six games without the benifit of seeing him in college. He has a simualr physcial build.I think alot of the guy and feel he has a promising NFL career.

Other than his physcial attributes how does everyone feel Cam stacks up to Freemon?

I don't get this obsession we apparently have with comparing Cam Newton to other QBs. QBs (like any other position / person) are different. If you run about comparing them to other QBs constantly you'll just end up disappointed when they're not a carbon copy. Good or bad chances are he'll be different than whoever you're comparing him to.

Bite me! I was curious about Freemans college career.I dont "run" about comparing people except now that you mention it I do compare you to an asshole.

Physically, they are very similar with Newton being every bit as big as 6'5" 248 lbs. and Freeman is billed as being 6'6" 248 lbs. While they both share the ability to move around in the pocket/scramble, and they're both hard as hell to tackle, I feel that Newton will end up being the superior passer once he learns the playbook and has time to gel with the team a little bit. But that's just my take.

Physically they have some similarities. College skill sets coming out? Freeman seemed to be in pretty good shape, but there were some serious concerns about his ability to quickly read an NFL defense because of the fact he struggled reading some college schemes of some of the better Big 12 teams. He had some accuracy issues... He also had other questions but IMO he was still a pretty good prospect.

Freeman was coming out of a modified pro offense that utilized a lot of spread formations. In his last two seasons of play he combined for a 60% completion percentage, some 6.2k yards, 38 passing TDs, and over 7 YPA. In his final year at K-State, despite his apparent protests about it, his coach had him run quite a bit, where he racked up 400 yards and 14 TDs.

I don't really see the point in comparing the two. Other than physical comparisons and potential similarities in possible pro style play, I don't think they did much of anything the same in college.

    • Watching games this year again and Bryce missed a wide open XL many times and some of them were in the endzone. I get the kid has mental lapses and hasn't broke out yet, but this is year three on a rookie deal! Cutting bait now is too early. If he hasn't gained anymore trust from his QB, posted any highlights, little production, or outright gets beat out then we can talk movement.
    • Samesies   I truly may just cash completely out of Panther football if we give him a long term deal that isnt necessary.  I have watched NFL for 50 years now and I can without a shadow of a doubt say you cannot win consistently with BY.  Way too many limitations to deal with.   I may come back around in 3 years when the inevitable happens and all parties are either cut and/or fired.  Giving him a deal before this season so you hopefully can get him cheaper in case he "blows up" or if you truly believe that he will has to be the most moronic decision a gm can make when the evidence is laid before you with different players
    • This is the one! I was at that game and all KB had to do was lay down on the corner after the pick or make an obvious tag while he was down. He had already ran a lazy route. Then if Cam would've just walked to the sideline like most elite QBs instead of trying to make the tackle.  A lot of people bring up the TJ Watt hit, but he just reaggravated a bunch of scar tissue from that play. And every Cam hater said that the running did him in and it was a dive tackle attempt on an interception that initially began the shoulder deterioration. He still went to New England later and would've got them in the playoffs had their A team not sat out the covid year. We quit on him too early. But hey how good was Teddy? Am I right?
