Matt Moore on his fate with the Panthers

Um... have you seen him in TC? He is not a very good practice player. Plays much better on game days but last 3 yrs TC that I have seen he was atrocious. Ok maybe not atrocious but not impressive at all. Matter of fact Jake looked better than him in TC. However it was the opposite he played horrible in games, especially after the playoff meltdown. Last year Moore was better than both Pike and Clausen in TC. However no one was impressive at all tbh. It was like he was the least sucky of the group. Saying he would beat out almost any vet is a stretch imo if the playbook is new to everyone.

Doesn't say much, b/c reports have been consistant Clausen was much worse in practices than games. Hard to imagine.

I haven't seen him in camp but I was basing it off his abilities and the abilities of those vets that are considered realistic targets.

I'm assuming the staff had a big impact on the way camp turned out. This is the only year Moore has gotten #1 reps and Smith was not there, Moose was not there, leaving Dwayne Jarrett as the most experienced receiver on our team. Kind of pooty right?

At both of his colleges, he won camp battles when he was the underdog, which shows me that he can do it and isn't just a game day player. It tells me that there are other factors that contributed.

I expect him to look much better in any camp he goes to this year, unless it's Denvers lol

Who was he in a battle with at Oregan ST.????

I don't know what Dwayne Jarrett did to make him throw so horribly but ok. Also I don't think you have to worry about him and John Fox teaming up voluntarily ever again :). I think with his skill set there are a lot of teams he could play well for. Unfortunately I don't think we are one:(

Ryan Gunderson. He was from Portland, Oregon. He was the local favorite and it was a very unpopular decision when Mike Riley made the decision to go with Moore. Gunderson had already been in the program two years and Moore was there just for the summer.

Besides the fact that Jarrett could never get separation and didn't know most of the plays, nothing I guess. My point was no one is going to look great when your starting receivers in camp have less than a handful of starts in the NFL going against a very good defense.

Don't be surprised if he is on the Broncos next year. ;)

Plain and simple if Matt wants to be a starter he needs to leave. He has no chance of having a future in Carolina. Either he is holding a clip board all season or half the season.

This has been established. Keep up.

kind of funny seeing a discussion about a QB having been to a couple colleges and basing his ability to perform well on what he did at those two schools...esp. when it's coming from someone who has criticized newton for being in a similar situation.

anyway...having seen moore at training camp. there's some guys that just shine. then theirs guys who are just there. moore was more in the 'just there' category. did a lot of goofing off with rhys lloyd. last year was his chance to step up and i didn't really see him do it, esp. since i was hoping/counting him doing it.

he's just not a rally the troops/leader kind of guy. i think he tried, but some people just don't have it. none of the QBs last year had it.

You are misunderstanding the conclusion I am drawing.

There is really no point in having any conversation about QBs with you though, especially Moore.

I never said he impressed me by doing so, but I know you are illiterate so I'll let it slide.

I said it shows me that he has the ability to show up in practice and not JUST on game days.

So him beating out 2 nobodys in college showed you he could beat out Cam, Jimmy, and all the FA QB in a TC battle?????

Is this what you are trying to say???

Lol if he's willing to stay here and be a backup qb, he had no business trying to be a starting qb let alone a franchise qb in the first place.

MM signing back here will confirm the things Dan Morgan and Frank Gracia were saying about him on the radio.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
