You can say they decertified the union all you want. But when the one person that put you in this place as your UNION leader is still leading the charge. Then he still is in Charge of the UNION, whether you call it a Union, a association or a Fuging Club.

The "Union" didn't bargain in good faith and decertify to get the upper hand. Any judge in his/her right mind can see that the Decertification was a sham and that D. Smith is still running the show.

On June 3rd or hopefully soon after the owners will have their lockout and the courts will say the Decertification is a SHAM... Which it is.

Because if it looks like poo and smells like poo that it probably is poo.

I tend to agree with you. I don't think players did things the appropriate way, and I believe Demaurice Smith's sole intention was to get this thing into the court system.

I don't really care about either side. Let's face it. At this point, we're talking about a bunch of multi-millionaire cry babies. However, the longer this thing drags out, the more I tend to side with the owners. The players association or trade association or whatever the heck it is nowadays has shown that it doesn't care about the game, which may not be how a majority of the players feel.

I think we are now looking at a true case of the cart driving the horse with Demaurice Smith holding the reins. Even with the 8th Circuit's ruling last week, the union continues to exaggerate and overblow things. All you have to do is look at the latest court filing by the players. The NFLPA* is the only side using a derogatory attitude, and I have yet to hear about them countering any of the owners' proposals or offering one of their own.

At this point, I really hope the courts hand it to the players. Do I want the players putting their bodies on the line without due compensation? No. Do I want them disabled for life with no healthcare? Depends. Many people in today's world are in that boat, and they didn't have the chance to makes millions in a single year. Do I care about the owners' land lease deals or stadium expenses? No. Not at all.

Just get the thing done already. I believe 3 June will truly set the stage for the collapse of the union's "bargaining" position.

I hope so. I don't think Smith has the best interest of the NFLPA at heart. I think it is like you said. Get it in the courts and see how much they can squeeze out of the owner.

What gets me is because the owners agreed to give them XX% of the revenues doesn't mean they HAVE to this time. I don't know of any business that is required to give the employees a percentage of their income.

They could set a wage scale based on position and depth and seniority.

They could have no minimum and well as no cap.

They could ruin football all together.

I agree that they are still acting as a union, but I also think it is ironic that a corporation is asking a conservative court to force a group of employees into a union. I am actually hoping the owners will win not because I think they are right, but because I think it is what is best for the league. Also, I was shocked that highlandfire wasn't the creator of this thread.

We all know that the players and the owners were conspiring to bring the NFL to an end since the Rapture was scheduled for yesterday. Why would you bother "negotiating" when you'd be Raptured away before the ink was dry. If I had a few Billion to throw around, I wouldn't waste my last days bickering about a few hundred mill. I'd be where Charlie Sheen is, doing blow off of a hookers rack.

But alas, the soothsayer Harold Camping (personal advisor to Al Davis) was wrong and Smith and the Cartel will have to cut a deal since the world won't be ending now until at least 2112 (GO AZTECS!!).

Looks like El Diablo has saved the 2011 NFL season, so a heartfelt thanks to the dark lord for staving off the end of times for one more year.

After living through the past 3 Raptures, I'm taking a vacation before The Real Deal makes the end of times prediction I can take to the bank..

The Appeals courts won't put up with this bull poo and they showed it with the continued lockout. If the players want a full season they need to get their asses back to the table NOW and not wait on the owners or courts.

      The "now it's been three years" Grade for the 2023 Draft

      Didn't  see this posted (since 2023) but since folks have been posting that you can't judge a draft class for three years (a ridiculous take), I thought I'd post this to see what people thought about the 2023 draft. Unfortunately this may not be the most interesting class to do this with but I do quite like retrospective draft grades. Would appreciate other's takes on this (and other recent) draft classes.   1(1) - Bryce Young QB: I am a bigger Bryce Young apologist than most (maybe all). I like the kid. But there is no way around it: This was a terrible pick. If he had been picked in the 4th or even the 3rd round I would feel pretty good about it. But this was the first overall pick that we gave up two firsts, our best offensive player to get.  GRADE: C -    2(39) - Jonathan Mingo WR: not much to say here here. He was here for two years. His yards per catch are on par with Bryce's yards per pass. Rough stuff. To date he has still never scored a touchdown in the NFL GRADE: F   3(80) - DJ Johnson OLB: a pick I hated as soon as it happened and an example of why the premise of this thread is honestly dumb. This was a bad pick when it happened. Most people knew it.  Then came training camp and he did not look good. Then came the preseason which confirmed what we saw in TC. Then came the season which confirmed what we saw in preseason. To date, he has half a sack in his career. GRADE: F 4 (114) Chandlers Zavala G: Honestly the best pick of this draft which really speaks to how awful this draft is. Other than Bryce, the only pick still on the team. He is mostly average or below average depth which in round 4 is not terrible. But he had a pff score of 43.5 and though I think people have unrealistic expectations for draft picks, I still would want a little more from a fourth round pick GRADE: C+   5 (145) - Jammie Robinson S: I liked the pick when it happened but ended up being a disappointment. He logged 1 tackle with the falcons last year and not enough snaps to get a grade on PFF.  GRADE: F OVERALL DRAFT GRADE: F
