Jake Delhomme as a GM

Hurney is in the top 3 when only evaluating what teams do in round 1. Other teams hit on better players in round 2-3....and 2-7 as a whole.

Wharton, kalil, king, Marshall, Godfrey, hangartner, Schwartz, Anderson, Connor, munnerlyn, haye, Johnson, suck, my, dick

the only blunder was AE? In that year alone he drafted two QBs who didn't fit Fox's or Rivera's offenses?

Clausen was the best player available by a mile. It was too good an opportunity to pass up. Pike was a late round flier who gives a fug.

for every Kalil there are 3 crap players drafted in the 2nd round to match him. Charles Godfrey lol?

Clausen obviously wasn't the best player by a country mile and we should have passed on him like every other team did. Captain ( a guy you listed) was a late round pick.....you don't waste them on a guy like Pike. They can come in handy.

I tell you what....divide Hurney's career down the middle. Look at the first half of his drafting career in rounds 2-7 go through all his picks. There has been enough time that has passed to know who was good, who was a one season wonder and who didn't live up to the draft pick. It ain't impressive. We know what they turned out to be....

Tell you what. For some reason i will compare hurneys career to whomever you ask.

As a hint, the better drafters belichick and Reid.

okay, outside of round 1 Hurney won't beat them. only arguement you have is to put an emphasis on Hurney's most recent picks and the type player they will become is still an unknown.

also, the Patriots drafting isn't as strong as most would think....which I know you know. People assume they draft well but reality is they haven't done that great of a job. How about you use the Giants instead of the Patriots.

I don't think Hurney is a bad talent evaluator. The problem was the lack of emphasis on the passing game in general. Look at the Chiefs. They won a lot of games last year with their running game but they realised you need to be balanced. They drafted Jonathan Baldwin to help Cassel and to be more multi-faceted. I don't know whether it was his philosophy or whether he was just drafting players to suit what Fox wanted to do but hopefully things are changing now.

Charles Godfrey put up just as good of a year as any top safety..

Charles Godfrey was a very good fantasy football player in 2010. He has never looked the part of a NFL S. He is an athlete.....just not a S in the NFL.

Giants are fine.

well, I look forward to your post. Although I don't always agree with you....I do know when you research and start a thread on a topic it is usually very well done.

Hurney's first round track record is ridiculously overrated

You don't get a ton of credit for taking RBs and LBs in the first round and having them "hit"

Also, Otah is injury prone as poo and half of Thomas Davis' career here has been wasted by the combination of ACL injuries and the team taking forever to figure out his position

Really, the first ballsy pick he's made is Newton

Charles Godfrey sucks btw. He's basically the DeAngelo Hall of safeties

Hurney passed on Flacco for Thomas Davis if I remember correctly. Davis is a good LB, but who knows how solid his knee will be after back to back injuries. But we needed someone to cover Vick at that point.
