Peppers/Cassel Trade Talks being whispered.

I don't know about the 3 team deal, but I just don't see that Panther's going after a #3 pick in the draft... they're pretty conservative and I see them looking more at a lower first rounder or multiple lower rounds and players in a trade for Peppers unless there was nothing else out there and it's day 1 of FA.

That was on if TC started Today, Brady said he would be ready to go. But said he didn't think his trainer would like that.

I understand that, let me clarify I don't care what Brady says, players can't be trusted as a source of their health, they tend to believe they are bullet proof and heal quicker than possible. I haven't seen anything that independently points to his re-hab is on schedule.

I'm not saying it isn't, just haven't read anything that says he is, however obviously if Cassel is truly on the block the Patriots believe he is.

yes

okay just got off the phone with my guy

CAR sends Peppers to NE and Lucas to KC

NE sends Cassell to KC and 3rd rounder to Carolina

KC sends 3rd overall to Carolina and Gonzalez to NE

If that goes, I wouldn't like it... we lose Peppers and Lucas and get one VERY high priced rookie? Maybe they would then trade the #3 down into more picks, but as was mentioned above, trading those high first round picks down is not easy.

We basically move Peppers for a first and Lucas for a 3rd. Both moves give us more cap room where we could potentially sign another decent free agent. I don't think the move is that bad. Works out really well for New England if Brady is healthy. Of course this is under the assumption that this wasn't a joke.

they could use the #3 to trade down for a later first and a second, or (craziness here) take both the eagles first round picks for that one.

This would be the scenario.

Curry drops to three and is perfect for any D running the 3-4 or the 4-3. A great player that can get to the QB. Probably a touch better than DeMarcus Ware. We would have calls.

no it was more recent, also Dr. andrews said that Brady had a good chance of fully recovering.

Here's the information it's from this Wednesday.

"Everything is progressing just as I expected," he said. Brady admits he had setbacks after his initial October 8 surgery, but said "Since then, there has been nothing (wrong)." Brady added that he's been "playing quarterback" and "golfing" without incident. Asked his status if training camp began today, he said "I’d be ready, but I don’t know if my trainer would (feel that way)." Matt Cassel will be far more trade-able if Brady's comments are true.

The story is also on his rotoworld page.

Giselle reported that his knees are fine.

Brady reportedly said the same thing about hers :sosp:

I was hoping for it to be true, actually

By the way, word out of Philly that the Jets are working out a trade for Lito Sheppard. If that happends then the Peppers for Sheppard speculation will be moot.

So was I, the price is way to high....

The funny thing about all these Cassel rumors is what do the Pat's have as a backup plan if Brady isn't ready. Matt Gutierrez, and Kevin O'Connel are on the roster, or do they hunt down a FA themselves.

I may be wrong, but I doubt they're actually shopping Cassel right now, making all these rumors BS.

    • It is all confusing and layered. SB is the cash you get very soon within weeks or in simple terms, its what you get to sign the paper work. Players and agents can agree on contract but what to "wait" to sign......teams don't like that cause you can "Carlos Boozer" yourself. In order to get that ink dry, while keeping the contract the same, portion it as a bonus to "sign" and get the funds with ________ .   * But Ive seen worded contracts that split the SB or a 20% to a later date. The beans counters can fill in the details about why certain dates are better and save the team money.. Theres tricks to the trade and accounting is full of them.    Ugh another big layer, is SB can be used to manipulate cap and players. Ill try to give a example that makes enough sense. Believe it or not having a owner like Tepper is a cheat code for this. He has cash in hand, where as Mark Davis had problem making pay roll and had to move the team to Vegas....... Tepper can give you 100,000,000 SB right now and the team can spread out the cap hit. Another owner doesn't have or want to give the player 100,000,000 in cash, but offered the same guaranteed contract in roster bonuses fully guaranteed over the next few years........ Which one do you want??? Everyone wants the money now, not before another inflation waves hits in 2 years. So it does 'pay" to have a owner like tepper that's able to have real cash on hand, while it also works GREAT for cap help. Heres a good video, if you can stand coked up pat and mask look-a-like AJ
    • I don't know. CMC is like others and may have lip serviced that line of " I had no plan or wanted to leave Carolina" I think he even said he bought a house too and wanted this to be home.   Here's what I heard- In a way Panthers org gave him a test and he didn't "fight" back. They approached CMC and told him they wanted to put him on IR since the "season" was over or out of playoff reach. CMC didn't fight it one lick and agreed. They secretly wanted him to kept playing or want to, but there was no kickback. I honestly don't know if its real or not, 5th hand information type deal doing on. Yes he had bruises and pains, but was able to play...... but went along with Panthers staff. Odd to be playing games with star players, but whatever....   Plus the staff doctors found out about his tendinitis and there was nothing to fix it. Even with him missing time, it was the best move to trade him before he got inflamed constantly.    Lastly, its mostly time a combo of stuff, Fitterererere did not sign him to be the highest paid RB. That was classic Marty "give me a" herniay doing. GMs have different values on roster spots and rumor was Fitterererer was one that didn't want to pay RBs. For all his faults, he's right about that......
