Should have definitely happened last year but if he would have played last year we may have never seen James Anderson breakout like he did. Things happen for a reason and having TD out all last year kind of was a blessing in disguise. Our LB's are the strong point of our defense

Quick notes from practice: Smith did participate earlier this week

Some quick hits from the morning practice:

1. Steve Smith did practice earlier this week, according to Cam Newton. Newton had huge praise for Smith, calling him a “bonafide playmaker” who plays at a different level than everyone else.

2. Newton talked extensively with the media and about learning the playbook. He said he feels comfortable with where he is, but wouldn’t put a timetable on when he expects to play. Newton said he was given part of the playbook or “points” that guys could go over. Newton, by the way, is an incredible physical specimen.

3. Linebackers Thomas Davis and Dan Connor both looked quick during drills. Davis is coming off his second ACL knee injury and Connor had a hip injury. They seemed to be running drills at full speed with no restraints.

4. Jeff Otah did not participate, nor did DeAngelo Williams. I did not see either Charles Johnson or James Anderson, both key free agents.

5. Five quarterbacks practiced: Newton, Matt Moore, Tony Pike, Jimmy Clausen and Keith Null.

6. Carolina free agent pickup Jeremy Shockey did participate and looked pretty good running around, although guys were just in shorts and shirts. No pads allowed.

7. Jason Baker talked extensively about the ongoing lockout.

8. Armanti Edwards has cut his dreadlocks.

9. Many of the players have been staying at the same place during the workouts, so there has been plenty of time to bond. Guys have gone to dinner together and also went on a Whitewater rafting trip earlier this week.

10. Punter Jason Baker said some players have part-time jobs and have had to leave practice early.

Ok then We wouldn't have had Dan Connor on the field if Davis would've played. So it was a win in my opinion not to have TD on the field. We know what he brings and having the new guys on the field helped with growth.:biggrin5:

Well he hasn't even been signed yet and he has already brought the spotlight to our team. Get ready folks for the lights, Cameron, Action, good or bad this year. You will be seeing the Panthers in the spotlight all season. Let's see if the team will be able to handle it.

This is one of those posts that everytime The panthers get coverage due to Cam, and everytime Cam throws a TD pass... We think about this post. Like it was said earlier, This is a post that lingers in your head, for better or worse...The whole season.
