An In-depth Sidney Rice and Wide Receiver Thread

Recommended Posts

Clearly, because you some how proved that Sidney Rice the SAME Sidney Rice that had 83 receptions for 1,312 yards and 8 touchdowns is a not a good player.

clearly you don't know what you're talking about...

You can't have two Steve Smith's as your one and two guys. Holmes is just like Smith which is not what the Panthers need. They need a guy like Moose and to be honest, I think that guy is Sidney Rice.

wrong.

Height does matter. I don't see Belichek going after Holmes to put beside a slot like Welker. Holmes is just as much as a slot wide as Welker and Smith has already said that he doesn't want to be that number one guy anymore so if you put Smith in the slot and Rice on the outside with Gettis on the other side you have a formidable tandem of size, speed, and strength.

wrong.

I just did

Brandon LaFell is 6'2 and David Gettis is 6'3.

but regardless, you further prove your point irrelevant.. lol

so with that said, Santonio Holmes would be an AWESOME acquisition.. ;)

If you like Rice, cool. Your reasons for liking Rice are irrelevant and inaccurate.

There are 2 points really. Rice can play ball. Rice is injury prone.

It's not just that he's injury prone, it's that he has a degenerative condition in his hip.

It will continue to get worse.

If this is a risk you are willing to take, then you'd be in favor of signing Rice.

If you're old enough to remember Dan Morgan, you know that sometimes you just need to take a pass.

I know that but Cam needs more help than Jimmy got?

I guess you just see Jimmy's receivers as the problem, and I tend to look at the fact Jimmy just wasn't the piece for that offense and that the coaching staff hung everyone out to dry last season.

Cam isn't going to be throwing the majority of the time this season. He will hopefully be handing the ball off to our dominant running backs, keeping the defense honest, and then throwing when necessary. Newton at this point in time is not a polished and accurate QB, for him to succeed, he will need time adjusting to the NFL game. He will benefit the most from having a healthy offensive line and an efficient running game above any FA WR signings.

Just so you know what Belicheck does has nothing to do with what the Panthers do I was just making a point that you refuse to believe.

On top of that Holmes has missed nearly as many games as Rice except Holmes misses his games for poor play and possession of marjiauna.

No, no, no. Jimmy was the problem but you still need more help then what he got.

It's called a physical if he passes then sign him, if he doesn't then don't.

sure, the Pats have nothing to do with the Panthers, just like your points having nothing to do with accuracy or relevancy.

so what exactly is your point?

I remember people talking about Rice being a bust before Favre got there. Now he's going to be one of the hottest FA prospects apparently. I don't think he will be worth the cost for this team when we already have a bunch of young guys who we need to find out if they can play. If we get a trade offer for Smitty and he's shipped out we'll need a veteran we can rely on and I don't think Rice is really that person.

btw, has his hip condition been confirmed as degenerative? Just heard he had surgery, didn't really look into it any. pretty shitty for him if it is.

The Panthers gave Dan Morgan a contract extension long after it was clear he couldn't stay on the field.

It did not work out well.

It's perfectly analogous to this hypothetical Sidney Rice situation, even more egregious since there are healthier, arguably better options on the market. At least Morgan was the best ILB that year.
