Carlisle outcoached Spoelstra

This is probably one of the more obvious things to notice from the finals and a major understatement but that Spoelstra fella is just a flat out bad NBA coach imo. Beyond all of these high profile players, the coaches have not really been given any light during these finals. Carlisle is just a damn solid guy to have courtside.

And something I noticed was that when you get to hear in on them during TOs, Spoelstra just says the most damn generic stuff about the game. Its like he's a fan watching them that occasionally tells them what they need to do & not how they need to do it.

"We need rebounds...get rebounds" "We need to score" "Our defense needs to play better"

He says need so damn much...he needs to leave

one of these days, lebron's coaches will learn to stop choking away 4th quarters.

but in all seriousness, carlisle is a good coach... he knew how to get the most out of his guys this series and deserves props for it. i remember not long ago some were uncertain of his future a bit, heh.

in his defense, having seen a million and a half of TnT's little coach snippits during games, I've heard jackson and rivers say the same thing... hell I'm pretty sure against the cavs last year they even had one of those clips with rivers saying "rebounds, it all comes down to rebounds, we need to rebound the ball"

but really... his days are numbered. if you're given 2 of the 5 best players in the game and you don't win a championship, your days will be numbered, no matter whose fault it really is.

    • I do think the rating is fair given how this unit hasn’t proven it with production. I understand you have to rank off production, not potential. However, our unit is also in a position to make this rating look foolish a year from now. We have 4 guys in the WR/TE room who all could legitimately take the next step this year, and catapult our rank. A guy under a lot of people’s radar after we took Tet, Jalen Coker. Mark my words, he will become the star of this room, and be the heir to Thielen.
    • Exactly. You’d think 2-7 wins a year (in a 17 game season no less) since 2017 is going to keep us bottom tier. Every year we say the same poo like we haven’t been a bad team the past 7 years. Until we prove we aren’t a bottom dweller, that’s where we’ll stay ranked. God forbid we have OL injuries like 2016.
    • What I love and hate about this team is it’s more filled with potential breakout players than ever before. JT, XL, Coker, Smith-Wade, Ikem, Trevin… and even Bryce are all guys I could legitimately see taking the next step. But the problem with having so many of those guys is that team success somewhat relies on them taking that step, and some are bound not to. That being said, I’m cautiously optimistic given our softer schedule, the way the offense clicked late last year, and the direction we finally have at GM, coach, and QB. Could see us as a sneaky playoff team.
