Go to the closest US embassy! That's what they are there for to come to the aid of US citizens abroad.

Absolutely. If memory serves, they will set up an account so that you can transfer money, probably for a smaller fee than Western Union or a bank might.

And you don't have to go to the embassy itself. There are consulates in various german cities.

Thanks for all the advice everyone, means a lot. Got me thinking clearly and rational, my parents helped to calm me down too. Needless to say when I first discovered I had my wallet stolen I felt like :jc:

But after reading the words of this thread, I feel like

Good news, my wallet was returned to a place in the city where they hold onto people's belongings that they have lost. I assume whoever stole it just threw it back on the ground when they realized there was no cash inside. Thankfully I had an emergency contact card with my program directors name and number and she called me to let me know.

Bad thing is, already canceled the credit card. Ah well.
