Tragedy @ Rangers game last night...

Did u hear about the Rangers fan that died last night? Sad story. He fell from the stands catching a ball that Josh Hamilton threw him... Fell 20' head first, but was conscience enough to tell the paramedics his 8 yr old son was in the stands by himself. Sad sad story.... Guy died at the hospital. I can't imagine how his kid is dealing with this. I bet Hamilton is beating himself up over it.

My prayers truly go out to his family and especially his son. I hope Josh stays strong through this whole ordeal...

This is just a sad story... Could you imagine? This could happen to any of us....Trying to get our kid a souvenir... Tragic story... :-(

Saw it on the news this morning....very sad.

Apparently there is a video somewhere but they were interviewing a guy who witnessed it and he said the way he fell they knew he couldn't have survived. Head first into the bleachers. Very, very tragic.

The video is on youtube... I watched it not to see how the man died, but to see what the railing looked like. You can only see him fall over, not hit the ground... the railing is only up to about his mid-thigh. He reached over with both hands to catch the ball and flipped over the rail and out of sight... all with his little kid watching.

Terrible accident... and I'm sure Josh Hamilton feels horrible about it, but it wasn't his fault, just a freak thing.

Erm, he fell 20ft from the bleachers, not into them.

Apparently he hit a crossbar on the way down to the concrete floor behind the scoreboard.

Saw this last night. That was terrible.

Josh Hamilton is going to hit the crack again. I'm just kidding but That guy has more poo on his plate. Nothing like a recovering drug addict having a man's death thrown at his feet.

I just hope he understands that it wasn't his fault.

ESPN replayed the 2008 HR Derby where Hamilton hit stupid amounts of homeruns in the first round. I remember watching that in 2008 and I became a Josh Hamilton fan that day, as it was the first time I really heard his story.

Hate it for Josh, because I think it's hard not to blame yourself at least a little bit, even if you know it wasn't really your fault.

Hate it even more for the family and for the son, death is always difficult, but even more so when it is unexpected.

    • I agree with this and I think it's worth mentioning too that Bryce is not consistent on his placement and especially velocity and that in large part is driven by his footwork. We all know XL doesn't have the best hands and I don't know that he can overcome that. Cam always had the heater that just hit your hands and sank into your grip, where Bryce has some that are harder thrown, some soft. Bryce stepping into a pass looks so much different than that hop throw thing he does. I think XL really needs to hit the jugs machine and start learning how to catch all these different touch passes. TMac and Coker don't have these issues. If XL doesn't get some work in he's going to be out of the league in the next couple of years.
    • I think most people like XL from a personal standpoint. I don't think he's stupid either. Although if we are being realistic he is lacking in football IQ at this point in time and it cannot be disputed that he has not taken working on his craft seriously at all times given the body of work on the field. It speaks for itself. I myself have defended him at times given the circumstances of our QB room. But he is now in his third year and 25 years old. We are not in a position as a franchise to go around babying anyone especially first round draft picks. He needs to take his position and his football career seriously or he is going to end up selling used cars somewhere. I hope he realizes this and takes an extended break from social media because that mess certainly isn't going to increase his net worth if he ends up out of the league. And these hanger on types will disappear quick too once that money dries up and it surely will eventually. We'll see how he responds.
