Are we good at WR

Zod I could not agree more. We made a very small amount of good moves to improve this team for the upcoming season. I just don't think we have done enough. I think we will be a 4-12 team this year.

Honestly, Rome wasn't built in a day, and I'm okay with us miring in a season that is somewhere around 4-12 -- 6-10 this coming year. There's a ton of potential at WR, but they are crazy young, and we have no idea what lies ahead for Gettis, Lafell, Pilares, AE, and Adams. In addition, it will allow us to play Cam, give our young WR's a chance, so that we can see what they've got, give our young d-line time to gel, and see if Otah is going to be counted on or do we need to cut our losses. Also, another top-10 draft pick will allow us to add a stud at either DT, CB, or WR. Not to mention, an early 2nd round pick should add a solid starter as well. I'm okay with "The Plan" moving forward and don't think we are as bad off as an Oakland, Cincy or Washington.

I think we are fine at WR, but it would suprise me if we didn't grab a free agent on the cheap to give Cam another weapon. There are a lot of WRs waiting to get picked up. I would rather see us get a younger WR so he can grow with Cam and the rest of the team, but I wouldn't be upset if we grabbed Derek Mason.

Yeah, I like the idea of devoloping young WRs, but I'd also like to have a decent vet opposite Smith to help the young guys along, and to help our offense avoid a quagmire into the indefinate future.

That's where Nanee(sp?) comes in. A Vet of Chud's offense, also young enough to actually be legit competition.

No need to do another Keyshawn/Moose signing.

How about bringing in an established WR who can produce something now and might be able to help these young guys (along with Smith) on a competent team, rather than a having a bunch of loose balls bouncing around and becoming discouraged in a hopeless offense?

I for one would've loved for us to have signed Plex. He would've been the perfect WR for Cam. He's a tall WR with great hands, which means that the passes don't have to be perfect. But thats neither here nor there now. Although, I still think that we'll be good at WR.

Would have been fine with me, not necessarily Plax, but the principle remains.

with the signing of Naanee I think Wallace Wright is as good as gone. The only reason why I could see us keeping Wright was because he was considered a great special teams guy. Correct me if I'm wrong but Naanee is a good special teams guy and a better reciever than Wright thus the need for Wright is no more. This could also put Clowney in jeapordy as well. I would say AE could be cut but I believe we will keep him for one more year because we invested so much into the guy. With Clowney and AE stepping it up in practice the last WR spot will be interesting to watch this preseason.

I agree with you rmoney. I don't think that Wallace has been used much as a WR with us so his value has dropped considerably with the arrival of Naanee. I can't say that I know much about him cause I don't, but for him to get Steve Smith's attention, he must be pretty good, or at least better than the other WR's on the team.

    • Very True--and I am a former HS English teacher.
    • Not a Moore fan-but he had a few good games last year-but I want players that scare you--Renfrow's route running and intelligence, Legette's size, speed, and strength, AT's intelligence and route running, Coker's body control, strong hands, and abilty to win contested catches, and TMac's size, body control, and ability to find soft spots in zone coverages.  Horn gives them the ability to stretch the field and he plays special teams.   Moore has a nice smile and can dance.  He filled in well last season, but to get better as a team, you have to upgrade your players.  I think Moore is a bottom of the roster guy who got bumped when we drafted 2 WRs and signed a legit free agent.  Here is the thing--TMac makes us better because he is great against the zone--man?  Good luck with that.  AT's role can be reduced, and that is probably a good thing.  He can specialize in situational football. Coker?  Just getting started. XL?  Just getting started.  Drafting TMac was probably a bit of a wake up call, but XL will be better as the 2. Renfrow?  I see him splitting reps with AT--keeping both fresh and giving different looks. Horn?  Watch the safety cheat his side when he is in the game--I see a young Steve Smith type in him, but he has yet to play a game.  I hear that Morgan loves him.
