Bears are shopping Greg Olsen

That would be a nice pick-up providing they aren't asking for a king's ransom.

Rob Chudzinski knows how to feature TEs in his offense.

But, then again with Shockey already on the team and Rosario available via FA.

There isn't a need for Olsen.

lol it's not too late you fools

Shockey is on a CHEAP one year deal with only $1 million guaranteed(if we cut him now we would only owe that $1 million, his roster bonus requires him to be on the roster week one).

Heartstock was a 2 year contract and given his unknown status, I'm sure it's cheap.

Our other TE's are also being paid practically nothing.

If we wanted Olsen and could get him, we can easily make it happen. Don't we have like 20 more roster spots to fill?

for realz...

If Olsen landed in Carolina, I certainly wouldn't be mad...

neither would i

hurney should at least inquire. shockey's nothing more than a stop-gap who has an advantage by being familiar with chud's system. i like barnidge, but am not willing to put all my eggs in that basket... and hartsock is... i don't even know.

olsen would solidify the position for years and would squash the need of the revolving door we've had their for seasons with king/rosario/barnidge

olsen and barnidge would be a good duo for several years

True but it depends on the Bears asking price

The Chicago Sun-Times and the Chicago Tribune both suggest the Panthers as possible trade partner for TE Greg Olsen.

The Bears reportedly will not just "give Olsen away" to the highest bidder. The Panthers make sense with Rob Chudzinski, Olsen's college position coach, running the offense. Jeremy Shockey doesn't have much left in the tank, and coach Ron Rivera is known to be seeking a dynamic tight end after seeing Antonio Gates every day in practice.

I agree, it would be a good pick up if we could get him for a resonable price. The TE we signed as a blocking TE, Shockey is only on a 1 year deal and has had injury concerns so he's not the answer for the future. Olsen is young and could give Ron the TE playmaker he is seeking.

    • Nice explanation, but I was just messing with you. Thought that would be obvious. I dont have the energy to keep on trolling. Last season I compared our situation with Bryce as a potential Alex Smith, but what we should be looking for is our version of Mahomes. Some people will read that as one sentence, to me that single sentence is equivalent to a half A4 explanationf of the teams pathway forward.
    • I dont know how much of his salary would come across and how much a trade would cost but I feel Kmet would be the sort of TE Canales and Morgan would like
    • I honestly question play calling a lot more towards the end of last season than Bryce’s play. I’m not sold on Canales as an offensive mind, I haven’t seen the advantage he gives on that side of the ball. Maybe that changes with the new coordinator so that will be something to look for. Either way I’m not falling for the same hook line sinker again this offseason. I hope we don’t settle for a qb just because of some weird attachment issues we seem to have as an organization to Bryce. I’d rather start the search for a qb again, now with a much more stable team and front office, then getting hooked for multiple years with a qb that under performs and is overpaid
