What's the word on Brandon Lafell heading into 11-12?

I don't think Gettis or LaFell have shown enough to be on the "fast track" to replace Smith, but most of us were pleased with their performance last year given the quarterback play. They both showed flashes last year, perhaps Gettis more so than LaFell. I'm optimistic about both of them.

They probably had the worst QB situation in the NFL last year...Lafell should be a nice big target for Cam. I could be wrong but I remember Darvin Adams and Emory Blake being pretty big targets for him last year and they're similiar to Lafell in height.

LaFell has made some ridiculous catches, but dropped the easy ones. Which just baffles me. Gettis is probably the better of the two. His speed and route running is pretty advanced compared to other rookies. If we would have had a better QB last year, I think he would have had at least 7 td's and close to 1k yards.

LaFell reminds me a lot of Mushin Muhammad.

He and Moose are both medicore with speed, but have possesion ability.

Both are solid for a catch, but are not huge playmakers like Steve Smith.

Gettis is like Marques Colston. They both have a lot of speed and can make some pretty good plays downfield.

    • I don't really care as much about athleticism and arm strength.  While Murray might be better in that regard, I think Bryce has enough of both to do well in the NFL. The main reason this trade reference is silly is the money and the fact that Murray has been around a long while and hasn't proven that he can perform consistently when the game is on the line.  Bryce has shown that he can play well in the clutch (in the few opportunities he has had).
    • If Bryce can continue the level of play he showed after the benching, then there's a good shot we at least compete to win the division. Tampa is a solid team but even last year in our week division they went 10-7 and will be on their 4th OC in as many years. The Saints are a mess and are in a mist of a half rebuild half still trying to compete mode and will probably be starting a rookie QB. The Falcons are a wild card as they have a really good offense but are we really crowning Michael Penix as a franchise QB after just 3 games?  The only thing I want out of this season is for Bryce to come out and without a shadow of a doubt prove he's our franchise QB. If that happens then most of the fanbase would be happy and I believe we'd be in a good place record wise at the end of the season. Maybe falling just short of winning the division with a chance to sneak in as a wild card team.
    • His daughter's initials are CAM.  Coincidence? I think not
