Prayers Needed

Mr. Scot

Recommended Posts

Brief update, though not much real news.

Had the chance yesterday to give the little fella the "Get Well" autograph that I got from Steve Smith at camp. He liked it. His mom and dad were very appreciative also. They're going to frame it for him.

He's still feeling okay so far. His mom said he finds it amusing when people tell him to get well because he isn't really feeling bad just yet. He's too young to grasp what could be coming down the pike. Part of me thinks maybe it's better that way.

Flag football starts up again this week. My current schedule won't allow me to help with coaching this time, though my buddy's still using the playbook. From what I know, the little fella won't be able to play because it's too big a risk. Shame because he's actually pretty good.

More when I know it.

A little news from yesterday, and sadly not good news.

The little fella definitely needs a transplant, and they had pretty high hopes that his dad could donate. Just got word yesterday that for medical reasons, his dad isn't a suitable donor. One of his older brothers wanted to offer, but he's not old enough yet (have to be 18).

Made a decision yesterday that my girlfriend isn't very happy with. I asked the family to give me info on what it takes to determine if I'd be a suitable donor. They agreed to send me the package, but I told them not to be optimistic there. Girlfriend says I should have talked to her before making an offer like this. She's probably right.

His dad is in great shape and, obviously, is a perfect genetic match. I'm diabetic, have had other health issues and am no relation. Still, I felt like it was something I should try. I'm good friends with the family and he's a great kid with his whole life ahead of him. As to the outcome, I leave that in God's hands.

I seriously doubt it's gonna be me, but for those praying for him, pray that they find a donor.

Wow. I will definitely keep the prayers going. Whether is a suitable donor or an out right healibg, I pray everything wors out.

Prayers go out to the little guy.

My children have faced similar situations with their friends.

My 14 yo son had a good friend (who is 13 yo) at school lose his battle with cancer a few weeks ago.

My 7 yo son has one of his best friends (lives in our neighborhood) who is suffering from Duchenes Muscular Dystrophy and the Dr's say that he won't even be able to walk by the time he is 9.

My 7 yo son aslo has another good friend (kid just moved into our neighborhood a few months ago) that has the disease that causes severe facial deformations. He is 9 yo and has already had 18 surgeries in his short life. Kid has an INCREDIBLE spirit and it just breaks your heart to see what he goes through.

Nothing worse than young children suffering.
