I wonder what achievement Brayton accomplished?

I wonder what achievement Brayton accomplished?

maybe it was getting 4 sacks instead of 3?

If I had to guess, I would say it was starting all 16 games.

this would be a huge part of it.

incentives are a great thing in contracts. all should have them. cut out the guarantees and add giant bonuses for actually doing something.

Brayton earned $300,000 in escalators, the maximum his contract allowed, to increase his '09 base pay from $1.8 million to $2.1 million. He started all 16 games last season, totalling a career-high 4 1/2 sacks and 59 tackles, just two shy of the career high he set as a rookie with Oakland in 2003.

Given that people didn't even know who he was when he came here, I think he had a great year. If he took this offseason to work on his strength and agility he could be even better this year. He and Kemo anchored the left side against the run. With Johnson they combined for 10 1/2 sacks. A very good combination.

    • Did not expect this from national media. https://www.foxsports.com/stories/nfl/10-best-nfl-defenses-2026-texans-seahawks-broncos 10. Carolina Panthers   Key additions: OLB Jaelan Phillips (FA), LB Devin Lloyd (FA), DT Lee Hunter (draft) Key losses: DT A’Shawn Robinson (FA) Don’t be surprised to see the Panthers, who ranked 15th in points allowed and 16th in yards given up last season, make the leap into the top-10 conversation in 2026.  They added two of the marquee defensive free agents in edge rusher Jaelan Phillips and linebacker Devin Lloyd. Cornerback Jaycee Horn is coming off back-to-back Pro Bowl seasons. Carolina lost starting defensive tackle A’Shawn Robinson in free agency but essentially replaced him with second-round pick Lee Hunter, who had 10.5 tackles for loss at Texas Tech last season.  Ejiro Evero, one of the NFL’s most respected defensive coordinators, has plenty of talent to work with.
    • unless you have a bonafide superstar at Qb you bring in competition every year until you do & or at the very least you want a legitimate plan B in case of an injury .the problem in Carolina is they know Bryce ayoung most likely could not actually win a real legitimate NFL Qb competition right now & if & when he did not win that aforesaid Qb competition it would not only be a major distraction but a setback to his overall development.& moreover once the fans realized they had a much better Qb on the roster it would be alot of public pressure to start the better Qb  ...just saying
