Tentative apology to Armanti Edwards

A lot of people sure seemed to be certain that last years' class would be defined by their rookie seasons, and they completely ignored the toxic environment everyone was playing in. Edwards is going to be good. Clausen is going to be good. Between Gettis and LaFell, we'll have another good receiver. We already know Hardy will be good, and it sounds like Norwood is going to get some quality time this year. Pugh and McLain are solid contributors.

Face it, Hurney knows a lot about building a team through the draft. And it doesn't matter what rounds he takes them in, or how he gets the picks, as long as he can keep the roster stocked with talent we should support his choices.

no decision is beyond question, and certainly not that one.

but the reaction was lemur-like.

and if armanti puts together a couple of good games and scores some TDs, those same lemurs will be scrambling back up the cliff and ...uh... hmmm

ok animal analogies suck. armanti is a boss and everyone should lol at the idiots who crucified him and hurney.

Lemmings not lemurs.

Lemurs are like a monkey raccoon.

I watched Armanti almost every Saturday at App State, and he is one of the best athletes I have ever seen.

I was at Carolina when when Dan Marino and Pitt sliced and diced the Tarheels. I was amazed that a college quarterback could play with the natural ability that he did. I had seen him on TV and was impressed, but in person, it was amazing.

Because of Armanti's size he will never get to play as a quarterback on a consistant enough basis to show that talent. He not only throws the ball with the same effortless and unconscious manner that Marino did, but he runs in the same in the manner. Its more than the speed, it's his ability to make the defender miss. Some of you might also not know that he was an honor role student that finished his Bachelor's degree in three years, and his college coach said many times that nobody works harder than he does.

As for why The Panthers drafted him as they did, I believe it started three years ago when he destroyed Wofford at Boone. Mr. Richardson was reported to have been at that game, a game where Wofford was ranked #3 and App at #2. Armanti put on a show, picking them apart with both running and passing, including a pass to Brian Quick in stride at 58 yards. The score was 70 to 24. After that game we wondered if Mr Richardson would remember Armanti when it was time for the draft.
