Would anyone else feel comfortable with Anderson starting?

I think I'd like to see how Clausen does with a healthy Oline and some real weapons at TE and WR for a change. It would help me determine how much of last year was him, poor coaching, or just a bad hand due to injuries, etc. But otherwise I'm cool with trusting Coach R to decide who gets the nod. If that's Anderson, so be it.

Not the entire season, but maybe 4 or 5 games to give Pickles and Cam more reps, and most importantly time to grasp the system?

I'm not really sure how I feel about it, but wondering what everyone else thinks.

After last night? No... I'd have to see how he fares against the starters to get a better gauge of how he really does under the lights

No. I rather see Jimmy or Cam struggle and learn from their mistakes as starters than just sitting on the bench to grasp the system. They are the franchises' future so I don't mind if thing are rough in the beginning. Anderson is here to work with them off the field, not be a starter.

I'm not trying to say one way or the other, just wondering out loud here. Mind you we still have 3 more preseason games to go to get some film on them all.

That said, throwing for 3rd stringers and playing against 3rd stringers could cancel each other out.

Anderson is here to be the starter if Jimmy and Cam are not ready to go.

Shula is here to work with them off the field.

Maybe, but that pass rush coming from the first string guys were night and day compared to later in the game. Makes all the difference for many QBs

If Anderson is a better starting option than it has to be him. If it's close between him and either Cam or Jimmy then the tie goes to the future.

Good call.

With some more training camp to go, and games we will get a chance to see who is more prepared.

I just wonder if Chud is giving almost all of the practice snaps to Jimmy and Cam to see what he has, and see if they are good enough to beat out Anderson.

He is the best third option in the NFL, but there is a reason he is the third option.

He really only made one great throw, and that was the smokescreen to Kealoha Pilares for the TD. He led Pilares perfectly, but then again any NFL quarterback should be able to make that throw.

Every other throw he had saw Charly Martin bailing his his ass out.

Perhaps DA should start. I flat out don't believe that either Jimmy or Cam is ready, quite yet after, what I saw lastnight. I think that they both have potential, but Cam, moreso. I just don't know if we should throw Cam out there to the wolves and "spoil" his development. People say that Jimmy's stock could go up, which is possible, but it could also go down if we let him start as well (not that it could go much lower). With the gutting of the season last year, there still may be some that think Pickles is salvageable as a genuine starter in the NFL, but Jimmy still slow as poo and holds onto the ball too long. Now, of course, with experience his ability to read the defense could speed up his delivery, but I don't know if he'll be anything more than a back-up in the NFL.

DA is tried and tested, and familiar with Chud's system. Chud did wonders with him before, maybe the two can catch lightning in a bottle again. This team is much more talented than that Browns team. The most important thing is that DA is expendable. He's a good lab rat that we can experiment on and put back in his cage when one of the youngsters is ready.

Some may think that we don't have a season to waste, but I don't think that the season will be wasted if we do things the right way, and not throw someone on the field who isn't ready and would benefit by watching a veteran. Now, this is not to say that Jimmy or Cam won't be ready in September or any time thereafter during this season. They can't hide behind DA forever.

All three of our guys probably have some potential, but Cam could be really special IF he can put it all together, and watching DA a while might not be a bad thing.
