Panther fans and BofA getting ripped a new one on WFNZ today

I always LOL at fans of other teams calling into the hometown club radio show and making fun of the hometown club... losers

stfu or gtfo and get back to whatever trash-town, loservile, hillbilly city you claim.

I don't condone violence toward this type of transplanted fan just like I would not condone violence toward any other type of attention seeking retard, but I know all to well that sometimes, in a moment of weakness, some Panther diehard will go a little overboard and pound the mud out of one of these fvcksticks. In that instance my only hope is that we somehow maintain the rep of the class organization we are and not ever be judged on the same level as these slack jaw, mill town, self-loathing, wannabes. And to be fair. If you wear any jersey to BofA or anywhere else that is not Home team or at least that week's opponent, you are asking for trouble. Don't be surprised if you walk out holding a few of your teeth. You asked for it in my opinion. And if you think its funny that its safer to make fun of the Panthers in Charlotte over any other home team, you likely have issues to begin with.

He said he wants our fans to make BofA a place that opponenets fear and walk away from saying "Wow". He said it at the Back to Football lunch yesterday. That opened up a whole can of worms today and the hate towards Panther fans and BofA environ has been flowing.

I've heard about this but haven't been able to find anything written about it. You got any links?

This is all I've seen..

-- TOUCHDOWN CLUB: Speaking for the first time to fans at the Panthers 2011 Countdown to Kickoff luncheon at the Charlotte Convention Wednesday, Rivera outlined what type of mentality he’s hoping to establish in Charlotte. “When people come to Charlotte to play football we want them to know this is our house, this is our town, this is our city and this is our football team and you’re going to walk away thinking, ‘Man, that is a tough place to play,’” Rivera said. “And we’re looking for a commitment from our fans to make this a tough city.” Rivera also said his goal is to be a “Super Bowl winning coach.”

In all fairness the Jets/Brown they have fan bases that span generations. The second generation of Panther fans is just being born right now...until we get kids who grew up panther fans teaching their kids to be Panther fans we're going to have Bank of America renting out seats to northerner employees looking for something to do on a Sunday.

Also the Oakland fans are all meth'd up so they don't count.

I agree with what he said. He wasn't bashing anyone, but it's pretty obvious that we don't really have a homefield advantage. Too many security guards and pompous PSL holders making everyone sit down and be quiet. I would love to see everyone stand up on 3rd and short at the Goaline and let out some actual noise for once.

Don't know if this has to change with the guy in charge in order to make this happen.

This

I've grown in a household that has Carolina ties that stretch back as far back as the 1700's. I grew up here and every team I like is Carolina based.

Now when Charlotte hit the growth spurt in the early 90's you had people moving like crazy from places like Ohio, Penn, NY, NJ, and other northern states. It seems that these were the people that go to games with other teams jerseys on and other things like that. Most of these young families had kids that were from the parents previous town or city. Most of these kids are so young that they don't remember living where they were born and don't have ties to teams from where they were born. I have plenty of friends who are in the 18-24 age group that are Panther fans even though their parents are Steeler, Redskin, or even Browns fans. My whole point is that it will take time for the die hard fans to form in the Carolinas once the adults of today weed out and people in my age group are able to take on the PSLs or something like that (I'm in college tight budget ;))

Any way no matter how you look at it the teams that have the "best" fans are the teams that have celebrated 50+ years in the NFL.

I usually like to compare the Panthers with the Ravens since we both came into the league around the same time. Ravens fans (my GF to be more specific) talk all the time about the number of Fans they have and how hardcore they are...2 counter points

1. You had football in the market long before the Ravens

2. An anomaly of a Super Bowl (not to take it away but a team with a offense like that will never with the Super Bowl again in this era) will do wonders for fan support.

So just because right now we don't have a rabid fanbase doesn't mean that it's in the making as we speak. Looking at the other expansion teams (minus the ravens) around the same age as us it looks like were farther along.

I like the passion, but you do realize that the Carolinas were driven by textiles, meaning hundreds of mill towns, for a long long time?
