Newton: "It's About Trusting The System"

So you are basing your arugument on a one year wonder who didn't beat a team with a winning record and Cam's measurements?

Freeman isn't a one year wonder, he is work in progress who has the tools to be great and is improving every year. What we see now might only be a shadow of what he will become.

Hopefully the same applies to Cam.

BTW, what do you have against Newton?? Seems you have a real negative attitude and struggle to find anything positive. As a PAnthers fan you would think you would be rooting for him even if he wasn't your first choice. You do realize the next decade is going to be mighty bleak as a Panthers fan if you keep up the hate.

in the pocket

You are right. That wasn't the throw I remember then. That was a good throw and a fantastic catch by Holmes. Didn't he threw one in the endzone after scrambling around and heaving it down field?? I don't really like Pittsburgh being an Eagles fan before I became a Panthers fan, so I don't dote on their successes or follow them closely. Usually I root against them.

I don't really like Pittsburgh either but i love Big Ben. One of the better quarterbacks in football. I'd put him right up there with Brady.

Can't really embrace a guy who rapes college girls. Especially when I have a daughter in graduate school who could have been one of his victims. Brady would never do that so I can't put him in the same group. Plus many of his successes are busted plays and great grabs by his receivers. I have to agree with Harrison who just mirrored what many of his teammates believe. He is overhyped and not close to being a Peyton Manning or Tom Brady. Without the great defense he would have no Super Bowl rings.

If Cam still sucks after ten years then there will be a lot more to worry about than my so called hate.

So are you saying that once he improves you will stop being negative? My thought was that he was going to be great in a few years and if you kept hating him, it would make for a bad time for you.

So why all the hate before he even plays a meaningful game? Hard to believe you will give it all up if he plays well by the end of the season.

So it was the defense that stopped ARZ from scoring and not Big Ben finding Holmes in the endzone. Wow i must have watched the wrong game.

Seriously??? Cmon now, Perry Mason. It is pretty clear what happened and that he beat it only because of who he is. If it had been me or you we wouldn't be on this forum unless they gave us computer privledges in our cell.:D

been saying that for weeks now. It won't just be cam getting better, it also be our oline gelling with the new system. The receivers on the same page as newton, our defense playing much better. The first half of the season will be rough...while there is a good chance the panthers will own the second half of their season.

I doubt we will own the 2nd half....although we should be playing better. We have like 6 of the last 8 games on the road. Will be very tough end.

    • I am trying to remember when I EVER said reach for need. My thing if someone falls you jump, if you can trade back a few slots and get help at the right value and pick up some ammo to move up from 51 which I think is outside the money zone, then you do that.   Take a WR later. Plenty of capable WRs have come from the 3rd round. Though this year I would go for C there if there was a reasonable choice. Take a TE if you must. I see more reason to take WR than TE. I think you give guys drafted two years ago and last year a chance to develop before cancelling them.    I think it is kind of unrealistic to throw everything all in on offense in hopes of going deep in the playoffs after an 8-10 year, even if it did have some nice bright spots in it.    And outside of this argument but relevant to it, I am bothered by Canales and Morgan and their apparent posture that we have arrived and are now in the big boy club. I don’t know where that comes from. They are out there talking like they are winners at 8-10. Backing into the playoffs in a real convoluted tie breaker scenario. They had some good games, yes. But the big feather n the cap, the LA Rams matchups, did you see what the Rams did? They didn’t fire the coaches but they fired their defensive backs. Bryce beat them yes, and it was pretty, but it was kind of like the Bucs and Mike Evans picking on our decimated secondary in 2022. Someone (Wilks) went down for allowing that to happen and they went down in LA too.  Wr aren’t as good as a whole lot of homers think we are. Shore up the trenches.    I think too many fans buy into it because they are so starved for anything that looks like a winner.
    • How exactly does one win OROY "by default"? Wouldn't winning the award mean that of the two, McMillon stayed strong the entire year while the other guy didn't and fizzled out? That's like saying Secretariat only won by default because the other horse stopped moving midway through the race. Absolutely zero logic in that statement, which makes me very glad that I've never really paid much attention to Walterfoozball.
    • I agree, teams in the past have fired the HC in order to retain a coach on staff...hell it happened to Mcderp this year, rams in the past and Im missing another.  The fall off for the Panthers team defense was huge once Mcderp leftd and Ron could not fix it even when he named himself DC.
