Newton: "It's About Trusting The System"

Seriously??? Cmon now, Perry Mason. It is pretty clear what happened and that he beat it only because of who he is. If it had been me or you we wouldn't be on this forum unless they gave us computer privledges in our cell.:D

Sorry but i know someone very close to me who was falsely accused and beat the rap. But back on topic. Cam must work from the pocket to be a successful quarterback in the NFL.

The most prolific QB in our team history

Cam is nothing more than a rookie QB who has yet to take a snap in a regular season game.....and who has looked below average in 3 pre-season games.

He very well may "become" the most prolific QB in team history. But to call him that makes you look ridiculous.

Right now he is only the most "hyped" QB in team history.

Look at the names in our QB history. Our fanbase had the lowest standards when it comes to QBing up until NOW. How many castaways and undrafted FA's have we put faith in? Bringing in Cam has made us demand more from the position, and I think thats a good thing. Our investment already at work.

Think it could have something to do with the fact that he is the franchise’s first ever #1 draft pick? Shouldn't you have high expectations for the #1 person selected in each draft?

FWIW, if it wasn't Cam and the person we took number 1 overall in the draft looked as fundamentally unstable as he does...he would be getting the same criticism.

Exactly.

If he were a 5th round draft pick playing "exactly" like he has played so far, people would question whether he even makes the team.

True but Dareus and peterson are kicking ass.......

Cam's footwork is bad under pressure....his fundamentals aren't that bad.

also keep in mind, we have yet to see Cam play what ideally will be our offensive scheme. Running the ball remotely well does have an impact on pass protection. Having Cam drop back almost every play highlights the entire teams weaknesses......not just Cam's.

From his waist up, his throwing motion is very, very good.

From the waist down he is eratic and inconsistent....but that WILL improve.

He needs time.

You know, a QB saying he has to trust the system is about the most uncontroversial thing he can do.

The fact that Cam made the statement and it has this many pages of posts about it tells me he is going to be the most polarizing figure in panthers history.

It was not his statement about "Trusting the System" that raised people's eyebrows.

It was his statement that is issues was not about his mechanics.

Right now its Jake Delhomme hands down. But when its all said and done it will be Cam. Dude is coming in with the highest expectations ever for a Panthers QB. He's already under the telescopes they use to gaze at Pluto.

    • I am trying to remember when I EVER said reach for need. My thing if someone falls you jump, if you can trade back a few slots and get help at the right value and pick up some ammo to move up from 51 which I think is outside the money zone, then you do that.   Take a WR later. Plenty of capable WRs have come from the 3rd round. Though this year I would go for C there if there was a reasonable choice. Take a TE if you must. I see more reason to take WR than TE. I think you give guys drafted two years ago and last year a chance to develop before cancelling them.    I think it is kind of unrealistic to throw everything all in on offense in hopes of going deep in the playoffs after an 8-10 year, even if it did have some nice bright spots in it.    And outside of this argument but relevant to it, I am bothered by Canales and Morgan and their apparent posture that we have arrived and are now in the big boy club. I don’t know where that comes from. They are out there talking like they are winners at 8-10. Backing into the playoffs in a real convoluted tie breaker scenario. They had some good games, yes. But the big feather n the cap, the LA Rams matchups, did you see what the Rams did? They didn’t fire the coaches but they fired their defensive backs. Bryce beat them yes, and it was pretty, but it was kind of like the Bucs and Mike Evans picking on our decimated secondary in 2022. Someone (Wilks) went down for allowing that to happen and they went down in LA too.  Wr aren’t as good as a whole lot of homers think we are. Shore up the trenches.    I think too many fans buy into it because they are so starved for anything that looks like a winner.
    • How exactly does one win OROY "by default"? Wouldn't winning the award mean that of the two, McMillon stayed strong the entire year while the other guy didn't and fizzled out? That's like saying Secretariat only won by default because the other horse stopped moving midway through the race. Absolutely zero logic in that statement, which makes me very glad that I've never really paid much attention to Walterfoozball.
    • I agree, teams in the past have fired the HC in order to retain a coach on staff...hell it happened to Mcderp this year, rams in the past and Im missing another.  The fall off for the Panthers team defense was huge once Mcderp leftd and Ron could not fix it even when he named himself DC.
