Send Claussen back to the West coast...

The number of teams with three QBs should shrink by one soon. The 49ers are on lookout for backup.

Carolina was the only team to keep three quarterbacks. Tampa Bay and Atlanta started doing what New Orleans has done in recent years and kept only two quarterbacks. I don’t anticipate this changing. I suspect the Falcons and Buccaneers will carry their third quarterback on the practice squad.

...if you can get something good for him. I doubt they'd want him, lol.

I think Clausen's only real chance to succeed is in a true WCO... he's a bad fit for the vertical offense we plan to run.

He's young, so I suspect we could get a 6th round pick for him. If Cam and DA both go down (knock on wood) I really wouldn't want to see Clausen out there anyways... I'd rather see us go grab a vet to fill the gap.

If Cam and DA both go down something went horribly wrong with our already horrible o line...

There will be interest in him, he has only played one year and you guys misjudge how much that year actually meant because it meant closer to nothing than something. He looked good in preseason to me this year, compared to last year. You can see improvements. He has some good attributes. At the very least he will make a decent back up.

So we'd trade a high 2nd for a 6th. I'd much rather hold onto him in the event that Newton goes down- fingers crossed that he doesn't. Perhaps he would do well in relief and increase his value à la Kolb. I'd rather not dump him or give him up for nothing yet. Buy low, sell high- if possible. His stock is low now, but it certainly won't go up for no reason. I say we sit on him for a while. He is only in the beginning of his 2nd season in the league.
