to buy or not to buy.....

Looking to purchase a vehicle by the end of the year. I believe I'm set on an 03-06 Subaru Impreza STi. Thoughts?

I currently have an '04 Grand Cherokee. It's a great sports utility, but the gas mileage is killing me. I drive from Hickory to UNCC on the weekends to see my gf & can't afford spending $100/week on fuel any longer.

Previous vehicles include: '96 Mustang Cobra SVT, '02 Camaro Z28, & '03 Mustang Cobra SVT (factory supercharged). Those were the vehicles I drove from age 16-21 & I have never had a traffic violation of any sort. So yes at 22 I can handle a fast vehicle.

The STi's are turbocharged/intercooled, but I'm more drawn to the AWD, 30+ mpg, & durability. Subaru engineer's stated the STi drivetrain was designed for 500,000+ miles.

As far as my financial situation; I'm almost 23, work full-time (40-55hrs/week), & currently taking business classes to move into management at the company I work for. I still live at home, but I am saving up to buy my first home. Right now I bring home $500-$600 per week & my only bills are auto insurance & cell phone. (around $200/month).

And yes I know this is a long & pointless thread. It's 2am, I'm bored, & I'm ready to see the Cardinals get that ass beat.

Pay cash :) After much consideration, our next car will probably be a Subaru - becoming a big fan of their drivetrain and longevity. If it matters to you, I believe their turbocharged engines are "supposed" to run on premium gas.

My '03 Cobra & '02 Z28 wouldn't run correct on anything less than 93 octane. That's not an isue.

Until you rectify this main problem, all other efforts are futile...

maybe it's just me..but Subaru's scare me...and especially if you're driving that much...get a honda or a toyota..just my opinion...

It's just you, Subaru's are some of the most reliable cars on the road. I won't drive a Toyota anytime soon after all the trouble my mom has had with her 07 Camry, run away gas pedal and all.

Honda's are solid but they don't have anything comparable to a WRX. It's on my next car list. BMW M3, WRX or Evo.

Oh yeah I know, when I say next car I mean 2-3 years in the future. Any of those cars is going to take some cash to maintain.
