Cam run play calling

What's up with rushing our franchise QB up the middle like a fullback? I cringe every time I see this. That's what we have stewart and williams for. Sure I'm all for Cam running for the pilings or scrambling when a play breaks down. But these designed runs up the middle are just asking for injury.

I agree, let the rbs do the running up the middle. I really don't understand why you would ever run that play.

I agree, thats why we resigned D Will and we still got Stew and Goodson. Chud needs to install a better run scheme for our backs or refer to my thread "We need another Offensive Coordinator"

I blame the lack of run game squarely on Chud, there is no other reason for it being bad right now

Yeah forget that Stewart caugh passes for 100 yards and we can actually throw screens for the first time in forever. Does it really matter if he runs for a 100 yards or catches passes out of the backfield for the same amount. I frankly don't care how he moves the chains as long as he does.

You could make the case that Newton is larger, stronger and more dangerous than Stewart and Williams. he doesn't look like he is taking that much abuse. The hardest hit he took was while he was in the pocket. I have no problem with what Chud is doing.

I have no doubt Cam can take the hits but it exposes him to multiple player pileups, twisted limbs, etc. It doesn't matter how big the guy is there's no need to give him more punishment than he's already taking.

I don't have a problem with rushing Cam. I do have a problem with Cam acting like a running back and diving instead of sliding.

The reason they did that is simple. Our run game isn't working. Our O-line doesn't get enough push. So use your RB to push and then the 6'5 QB to get a little extra push up the middle. There's actually less risk then Cam running full sprint outside, and diving where a DT running full sprint can ring his bell.

He may twist something going up the middle, but behind your entire O-line and a RB, you're unlikely to get that hurt....unless he insists on doing backflips over the top of the pile. Another no-no, imo.

Only should have a couple designed run plays a game.

Don't like the calls. We've got great RB's. Let's use them. Don't understand why they gave D'lo that big contract if they aren't going to use him. The running game is just like the passing game in that it has to get in a rhythm. Have to keep running even when it isn't promising. Have to do it early in games so you aren't forced to become one dimensional later in games.

    • This makes an interesting case for two awards: Best QB (We'll workshop the actual title) and MVP-Other.
    • new article " If they do opt to roll with the younger and cheaper options, the Panthers probably wouldn't bite on Moore. They've seen him get worse since trading him away, and virtually no one on the team was part of that decision or that era. Still, it would be hilarious to see Moore return home. It would also be a pretty solid addition, assuming the Bears ate some of the cost and/or it didn't require much capital to get him. A wide receiver room of Tetairoa McMillan, Jalen Coker, Moore, Xavier Legette, and Jimmy Horn Jr. would be nice." https://www.si.com/nfl/panthers/onsi/news/panthers-hilarious-landing-spot-unhappy-bears-wr#:~:text=It all looks like the, much capital to get him.
