Is 3 second rounders is a bad deal for JP

Nobody except the Panthers will pay JP 17 million dollars this year, Thats why no team will trade for him.

Why the hell would a team trade a first day draft pick then pay the man 17mill for one year? Y'all are stuck with him! :)

We wont be getting more then that for him, NE said that the most they would offer for him is the 34th pick. So us getting two second's with one being basically a first plus a fourth is about the best we will be getting from anyone.

I know. I want at least the 2 second's.

They can negotiate a new contract with him...they don't have to pay him 17 million. You know what happened with Allen last year, he signed a new contract with Minny.

They can TRY to re-negotiate his contract but its up to him and hes already stated he wants AH money. We all know its about the money with this dude, So why would he?

If it was about money he would have signed that 90 million dollar contract we offered him last season. Don't bring up Haynesworth cause his contract has a poison pill in it, so it's only a 4 year deal worth 48 million. So if this was actually about money, he would be a panther under contract, instead of waiting to sign a tender and get traded.

He can't get everything, it is money or playing outside of Carolina...

If he wants his ticket, he must make compromises also....

I guess he would get 7-8 years contract mostly backloaded and he would be cut when he is 36 or something....I don't think his first year salary would be more then 10 mil$....

The teams he wants don't have anything to give in return for a "Franchise" DE. He wants to pick and choose. Play for the Panthers this year and next year you can choose whoever. Sign the paper!

F*@k what most of you are sayin' I want my two first rounders or damn near close and I'm sure Marty feels the same way.

No, three 3rd rounders is not enough.

The question was about 3 2nd rounders. Not 3rds. And Id take it in a heartbeat. It gives us ammo to move up into the first if we think we could lose out on a guy we want, or 4 picks to just sit back and take the BPA in the 2nd round. I love the idea. Plus each player's contract will be much cheaper.

well I can tell you we want be getting those 2 first round picks at this point, Peppers has ruined that with his 4 or so team list. For us to squeeze 3 seconds out of this when the best offer so far is a high second would be brilliant work by hurney. Otherwise this team is hampered by his contract and he could still sit out and the contract count against our cap till game 10.

He is now the only "star" on the D line, or the whole D for that matter. Who is out there that is capable of filling that void for us when he leaves?

Even a first round pick will need time to develop, so I can't see how picks will be fair compensation for what our loss will be. Who is going to fill his shoes?

The Jordan gross thing (signing at the very last minute) gave the Panthers leverage now Peppers not signing is his only leverage. I'm tired of it, he's holding us back from rebuilding if he is leaving.

I don't see what his problem is anyway, if someone was paying me 1mill a week I don't care where I was, and my home state would be even better. Stupid and short sighted if you ask me.

Beason is a star, Thomas Davis is close to / if not already a star. Gamble is a top notch corner, Godfrey will take some big steps next season, we just need a pass rush. I have faith in Johnson, but we need someone else who can continuously get to the qb. We also need a DT to help out in rotation.

Close, but not enough Pro Bowls yet. He'll get there though.
