OP... well said, Cam's play has changed the expectations for this season - Rivera knew the expectations had changed a few weeks back and warned us not to get ahead of ourselves, but we did anyways.

becuase Rivera is sooo pleased with the play, right

I think the people who keep yelling "stop complaining/development year" are NC State fans, as they are used to/accept losing.

This is Carolina's 16th year in the league. We have made the playoffs 4 times & are well on our way to the 10th losing season in team history. That is pathetic.

I'm sick of hearing about the future. The Panthers were 1 game away from the Super Bowl in only their 2nd season. There's a reason we have never had back to back winning seasons.

We are a loser franchise. Period.

This makes no sense. Sounds like we are a decent franchise to me. Playoffs 4 times in 16 seasons, 1 superbowl appearance. Look how long it took the bucs, the saints, the seahawks. I think we are spoiled by our own, yet sparse success. We could be like detroit. I'll take the history of this team over some others. Yeah we have had our share of disappointments but it could be much worse. Loser franchise.......nah. Don't see it that way at all.

Why? Because I don't let my love for this franchise blind me to how pathetic it truly is? Sports are very simple; you play to win. That is something this franchise doesn't do. The Carolina Panthers are perennial losers & in no better shape today then they were in 1995.

the steelers were established in 1933 as the pirates, and took 15 years to make their first playoff appearance which wasn't even an appearance really. they lost a play in game. the same thing happened to them 25 years later. that's 40 years. They finally won their division in 72 and their first SB in 74.

Another and more recent example is the Texans. They haven't seen the playoffs yet, and the best they've done is 9-7.

Just two examples of franchises we are doing better than. Go ahead and jump though. We won't miss you.

Look at the Saints? Once Brees is gone they will fall back into the pits of the NFL.

How about you look at the Ravens. They came into the league after us, yet have 7 playoff appearances & a Super Bowl Championship. They are contenders almost every single year & are one of the best teams again this year. It's a small market team, no big name coaches, & never had a really great QB. But they win consistently like the Steelers, Packers, etc. of the league.

Carolina is constantly in rebuild mode. Just like the Browns, Seahawks, Bengals, etc.

Carolina is doing better than a franchise that has 6 Super Bowl rings?

Using football stats/records before 1970 or so is like saying you won the special olympics.

So then go root for another team? You are only annoying others with your constant complaints. Its not like anyone is forcing you to be a fan of a team that you have no faith in whatsoever.

Seems like you have already given up on our team so I am not really sure why you are wasting your time on this board. You should be researching your new team and going on their board.

historically to this point we are doing better than them yes, and you're statement about pre 1970 is absurd. there was a lot of great football played before the merger by some of the greatest players ever. The biggest reason the steelers can be used as an example though is that the Rooney's have always owned them. They didn't just stumble into SB wins. It took them a very long time to build what they have.

    • Jack Roslovic: Only 2 other UFA, right-handed centers age 28 or under had more points (39) than him- Sam Bennett (51) and Pius Suter (46). There were 4 other centers age 33 and older who scored more: Gireaux (37), Marchand (37), Tavares (34), Granlund (33).  Unless the Canes go old, if they let Jack walk, they won't get a center who scored more.  Thoughts?
    • nope     This is why we come back every year.  Hope springs eternal
    • It's important to differentiate criticism and hate. I can't speak for that individual you quoted. But most people who have been critical of the Tepper's have been so because both of them have made it a point to put themselves front and center and in the middle of team operations and we have been largely horrific more often than not as a result. If people are making derogatory remarks about her that should be met with an appropriate response but if people are being defensive just because she's being criticized all I can say is people should get used to it. Both her and David would have been getting absolutely skewered by the media and the fans if this were a big market franchise. The Lakers are finally being sold off after years and years of public criticism of Jeannie Buss and even though I'm the furthest you could go from being a Lakers fan just about anyone you could meet who is familiar with the NBA would say the criticism was certainly valid.
