Gantt: Delhomme here to stay

Mr. Scot

Troy Smith......Wow and you think Delhomme is in accurate??????? LMAO haha ......That's funny..... He has a completion percentage of 53.8....... The season he had significant playing time he had a completion percentage of 52.6 and a Qb rating of 79.5.

His rushing stats are average to above average for a speedy QB, but he has 2 fumbles.........

You consider him the best QB on the market.......................LMAO.....

He's an below average passing qb with average legs for a running style/scrambling qb.

LMAO you are judging a QB after being in the league only two years...LMAO....JAKE DELHOMME 4EVER!!!!

.......

You can go off of his college stats and that accuracy has been a problem for him....... Passing qb's that are good will get a College completion percentage in the low 70's....The highest he ever got was his last season at 65 percent.

His weaknesses are his height -- he's generously listed at six feet -- and his deep-ball accuracy. (scouting report in the NFL) Accuracy as always been one of his weaknesses....

We run a play action system with the passing game dependent on long pa strikes down field. Bad Deep ball accuracy makes a qb not a fit for here. That and his career completion percentage is over two years in league not one. His college completion percentage is downright horrible his first two years and only adequate his last season.

Judge a player on his overall play and he's never had an accurate deep ball....That's not judging after one year (he's just finished his second in the nfl) plus three in college = dang good picture of what a player is and isn't.

You don't actually follow any other players besides ones on this team do you? That explains a lot.

Troy Smith was highly regarded and still is by the Ravens FO, fans, and players. He would have started this year if tonsilitis hadn't taken him out. He looked very sharp in 2007 except for one bad game against Seattle.

But of course I wouldn't expect someone that only knows what goes on with the Panthers and even that is always through the eyes of one Mr. Darin Gantt to know about Troy Smith. :D

I follow the entire league, and I can pretty much guarantee I've seen more of Troy Smith than you have. I lived in Ohio for the entire time he was in college. In fact, I made some predictions about what kind of pro he'd be when he came out, and so far it's fallen pretty well in line.

Answer this: If Baltimore had that much confidence in him, why did they spend a high pick on Joe Flacco?

More to the point, you don't hand the keys of a 12-4 team over to a young guy who's all potential and no proof. You can get away with that with a 7-9 team, but it's not a smart move on a winning team, especially not replacing a veteran who already knows the system.

Jake took us to a Super Bowl with a completion percentage of 59 and has a career QB rating of 85...

So Jake playing in NFLE and sitting the benchnfor years is only a slight upgrade over Troy Smith?

(OMGZ HE'S A FIERY LEADER LOLZ)

Does this mean I know more about he Panthers since I have lived in Charlotte since 1993?

Some fans hate is deep, deep. They would rather screw the organization than retain Delhomme, just how it is...

I think some of them don't even watch the games.....otherwise they wouldn't suggest someone who has a considerable weakness with his deep ball passing and they want him to be a QB on a run first team that utilizes it's passing game by using deep throws on Play action passes.

As you say judging his ability at this point is largely meaningless either for or against. Cuts both ways. Smith has done little to nothing but it doesn't mean he won't improve either. Most quarterbacks these days take years to develop.

And for what it is worth, I think that Moore stands a good chance of being our quarterback down the road. Who knows if he will continue to develop but he had a good start and already has some of the intangibles. Honestly I would give him the nod over Troy Smith if I had to pick one or the other right now.

    • With the contract money an OT first rounder makes you can ALWAYS get a new girlfriend.  And probably an upgrade at that.  You only got 2 parents.
    • Brother. You are wholly confusing comparing situations and applying actual standards like most other franchises do like simply getting into a playoff series and winning at least 1 or 2 series games with praising. Nobody is praising the Hawks. Nobody is praising the Magic. Nobody here likes those teams. But reality is reality. The Hawks like other franchises have traded players fired coaches etc but they can still win a couple playoff games. How is that not the bare floor for you or anyone else? What are we doing here if it isn't? We've seen eye to eye on many things over the years. But you are in the camp on the Hornets where you are emotionally attached to LaMelo where you feel the need to carry his water like he's got that juice. That's cool that you feel that way. It's your prerogative. But I differ from that viewpoint entirely. If he had that juice we would not have gotten wiped off the court in 2 play in games with 2 different coaching staffs and rosters. if people don't like hearing that well I'm sorry but how the hell is this team ever going to get better and ultimately go anywhere in the postseason if we just blindly pat them on the back for getting their asses whooped before they actually even get into the real playoffs? There seem to be some Bryce Young level standards being applied here. That's wild to me. But to each his own.
    • Proctor/Freeling were always the belles of the ball where we were picking. What those two *could* become at OT was far greater than what others could be at their respective positions and I’m glad our FO could see that.
