Gantt: Delhomme here to stay

Mr. Scot

Recommended Posts

While some here can fabricate and loosely construct an argument that he is the reason for any relevance we hav realized as a franchise since hew was salvaged fromthe bench in NO, an argument can also be posed that shows why he is the clown that has held us back and limited the rest of the roster.

Why does it have to be either or? My opinion is that he is neither.

Any deal for Delhomme will be done to keep him as the quarterback here for the next few years, not for short-term salary cap relief. I'm going to say that again, because the lunatic fringe has struggled to understand this offseason. They're going to do a deal with Jake because they want to keep him around.

Sorry, but that's just Gantt's own damn opinion. I believe the deal will be done stricly because of cap space. Any QB that screws up temendously as Delhomme did with as good of an offense he had, can't be more than just for that reason. Yeah he will get extended, does that mean he'll be starting the whole time he's under contract? That depends on Moore's progress or if we pick up someone else with talent that shows he can start. Sorry, but Gantt's an insane moron if he thinks the ill will towards Delhomme is unwarranted. He can take his "lunatic fringe" comment and shove it up his ass.

 at people fussing over gantt because they don't like what he wrote.

he is saying what the FO is saying...he knows what they are thinking. do you want a beat reporter who says what you want them to say but always has the story wrong as to what the panthers are thinking?

Between you and Gantt, which one actually knows, and has talked to, the people directly involved?

There's a difference between reporting what the FO is saying and doing it while adding your own little spice and if anyone else disagrees with your opinion, they are a "lunatic".

It may be that he is

I just hate that a QB has that vanilla of a position on any team. And the fact that his proponents consider one of his greatest attributes is him being such a fiery leader kind of eliminates him from NOT having a considerable impact on the overall viability of the team.

How does he find all this time to "blog" when working the glory hole at BoA....lunatic fringe my ass. Perhaps those that realize what a pooastic QB we have...I wouldn't have a problem with a game manager type QB. Game manager type QB's don't single handidly lose fecking games.

*Adds Gantt to the list*

Where is he sucking off the Panthers.

Just stating the obvious.

maybe he could have called them the "overreacting" fringe?

he could have phrased that better, but the point is....he knows more than most what the organization is thinking. people who don't like it are getting upset about it and are shooting the messenger.

when he said, "lunatic fringe" that could easily have been a response to the tons of irrational emails that he has been getting from people. you know there are people overreacting about it and i am willing to bet that the emails he gets are crazier than some of the comments that get made in here.

they love him there and Gantt's job is to pipe the sewage directly from the bowels of BofA and force-feed it to us like its gospel and like we are stupid for having an opposing opinion.

Delhomme needs to go. While some here can fabricate and loosely construct an argument that he is the reason for any relevance we hav realized as a franchise since hew was salvaged fromthe bench in NO, an argument can also be posed that shows why he is the clown that has held us back and limited the rest of the roster.

it's all perception and mine of him is not very positive

So who do we replace him with?

Xactly

anyone who has ever heard him on Pac man knows he is a dick. He has the unfortunate burden of knowing that his entire career is at the behest of what the panthers say and any opinion he has, they give him. He is forced to carry this holier than thou attitude when he delivers this horseshit so that he can fool himself into thinking he really isn't the patsy he is.

Gantt = Garbage

Yeah it was the way he worded it. He doesn't know if the extension is because the team really wants him to stay as long as possible or if it was mostly because of cap space. Who knows? Thats his opinion. Stating his opinion and then using that lunatic fringe comment is what I had a problem with.

Crolls:

Ahhhh..so it's kind of what I said in the other thread...some of our being called "nuthuggers" is mainly due to the fact we like the type of QB/team model Fox does, and some of the the people who call us "nuthuggers" want some exciting big armed huge passing #s 1st round elite guy with some 1999 Rams type offense.

I don't care whether a guy or a position is "TOO" vanilla. In fact, I much prefer "vanilla" to a TO type. Nor do I care about a QB having to be the "face of the franchise". Neither of those things is important to winning football games, IMO, so why would I spend time wanting it?

very good question

we'll have to get out from under our cap woes to actually consider it though. Even discussing it (us or the FO) is ridiculous when our wallet is empty.

I like(d) Cutler, Leftwich, Cassell, Anderson, Moore, McCown, Kitna, etc.

The fact remains that its hard to get much worse than Jake at this point.

    • If I said more about why I see the league being part of the problem I couldn’t post.  Still love football, my dad was an example of the difference between college and pro. He ended up coaching for several years. I went on a couple of visits for college ball but knew I wasn’t NFL caliber and had some pretty compelling interests outside of athletics and here we are. I went another way. Still love football but seriously falling out of love with the NFL. Have zero love for Tepper.    edit: to stay OnTopic the wins come from facing teams that are down for whatever reason, that week. I don’t know how to know more specifics ahead of their random demises.

    • On the whole, I share the exact same sentiments. Tepper has pushed me to 'academic interest' status but it's hard to turn off 30 years of overall interest. Have to say though that the continued fractionation of the product and the ubiquity of gambling around the NFL in general is sure a growing turn-off.
